Hey Dan,
Would you recommend this to people that want to be an airline pilot in the real world? By the looks of it now I think it would be great.
Just by looking at all the pictures of it and all of the posts by the testers I think it will be one of the best programs for flight simulation
theese days.
Thanks for the time,
As the release of FsP is getting nearer, I thought it would be a good time to start asking you pilots
what flights, aircraft and companies you are interested in doing.
For me I have started a Qantas VA and I plan to recreate all the Qantas flights done in real life.
As you may have seen by the screen shots http://www.fspassengers.com/?action=screenshots&page=3
Dan has included a very detailed world map where pilots can view all the flights done by the company.
You can also zoom to the continent of your choice to get a better view of where you have travelled.
It is also possible to change the route colours so you can see better if needed. (white/red/green etc etc.)
While testing FsP I started flying all Qantas domestic flights. I must say the map of Australia looks
great with all the flight routes over it. It almost looks like the Qantas Desk Calender with all there
flight routes.
I have read in the forums that a few have started your own VA's which is an excellent idea. What else are you guys interested in doing?
If I was to start out in a small aircraft and gain 500 dollars net after each flight it would take me 2,000 flights to gain a million dollars. I
don’t suppose FsP expects us to actually fly 2,000 flights our selves? Is there a way to simulate flights and perhaps virtual FsP pilots?
First of all, let me say that FsP sounds as if it's going to be totally cool!
I think I will use FsP for my web based VA (if most of my VA pilots agree in purchasing it).
Before I present the idea I’m trying to find out how it would work. I suppose I will need to build a database that collects FsP information.
At this point I’m guessing the vpilots will have to do screen prints / cut and paste FsP information in an e-mail. Or is there another way?
Like a FsP file they can upload? I'd like something more then just a normal honor system pirep.
Quote:I think you'll also find that many good suggestions will come from people actually using the first product release. Were it me, I
wouldn't risk
wandering off into areas of programming that later might prove to be the wrong direction, or worse a case of wasted time and money.
Between you, me, the rest of the forum guys, and the fence post, I think you've provided more features than anyone could have asked for
in a first
edition addon already
Here's hoping we see it soon....
.
I couldn't agree more with Decan and I'm glad he made that post. Dan as much as I love you making more things for FSP I really
wish you
could focus on the goal of wrapping things up. I know these things take time and I know your working hard. But FSP was suppose to be
out in March...then April...and now your saying that it proably won't be out in May. So please if you could focus on the things that need to be
done for your product to be released it would be really apprciated
Remeber you can always add extra features latter.
It sound perhaps dumb but I don't have a cool flight planner, i'm too busy coding to make long flight
I fell in love with the nav 3.0 in fs2002 so I wonder if there is a flight planner that is external and give you
a map with all the vor and frequency as the old NAV 3.0
here a map of nav 3.0:
It's now time for me to make flight in real user condition to test all the features
so I need now a flight planner to make the experience more enjoyable (I still love
to make cool flight even after all my work on Fs04
Last month , i receive a mail from a friend saying , " my god look of this" with a link to your website .
I open this link , and them udge smile arrive , and i cry of joy :-)
Well , just to told you that with this software , a old dream will become true ( i'm 36 years OLD ) thanks to you ..
So , like the other one , " I WANT THIS SOFTWARE NOW : " but don't worry, i'm a IT manager into a storage software company
so i know that take time to do a great job is better than hurry ..
Keep courage for all the hours you must use for this , i will send your link to several person i know , i'm sure
you will have money back for your effort .
FsP will allow to have as much as 255 sound pack, it mean you can have as much as 255 different voice
or language for the crew voice... (FsP will only be bundled with one pack at first)
I plan to record at least one or two more pack available separately for download but anyone
can do a new "voice pack" either changing only a few sound or redo them all, it's pretty easy. (see below)
Now what is a "pack" ?
Simply a new directory were you can record your hown version of the crew sound, if one sound is not found here
FsP will load it from the defaut directory... In FsP option you can select one pack or choose random
so at each launch you will have a different copilot or hostess sound. (given that you have somes pack installed of course)
Now why "open the can" title ?
As you know optionnaly FsP can display the text of what say the hostess or co-pilot,
this is usefful for non-english people or to not miss a "failure" sound.
Previously all those crew text were embedded in FsP code, it was a pain, at each sound change
I had to modify the code (with all the risk that I introduce a bug) It was also really dumb
because as everyone can do a new sound pack with his hown language you would still have the text
in english...
So I made right now a new utility very user friendly that allow anyone to edit the text related to one
sound pack... if you click on the left column on the filename you can hear the sound and while clicking
on the right you can edit the text, this utility will be bundled with FsP in the "sound/crewpack" directory.
HOW TO MAKE A NEW PACK ?
If you want to change the 150 voice sound , change only the hostess or copilot sound or change only a few the
process is very simple:
1-copy the "CrewPack/defaut" directory rename it as you want (example: "German voice" or "Male attendant")
2-Delete all the sound that you don't want to edit in your new directory (it simply save place)
3-Record and replace with you hown version the sound you want to change.
4-Launch the utility "SoundText.exe" edit the file text of your new directory (it's not an obligation if you don't care about text.)
5-submit your pack (if you want) so other people can download it.
voila... German voice with german text for example or a "Male attendant" voice with different text
Copilot that say "Houston we have a problem" instead of "mayday", 1950 voice style to fly a old DC3
or simply your hown voice as copilot, I see infinite possibility here...
I had to voice that because I just made the change in FSP now the text are loaded from this external
file.... it work flawlessly, will save me a lot of time and add a new possibilities to FsP.
I just made a flight test with a freeware CRJ700, the radio panel was broken, impossible to enter
new NAV frequency... this remember me one feature of a nice adventure addon somes years ago:
you was able to enter com, nav frequency and heading by pressing on keyboard...
As I'm a "keyboard lover" I love flying while pressing on my keyboard I decided to implement
this feature... I just made somes test, it work nicelly...
How it work
So... in FsP you will be able to type on your keyboard for example "C11450", the copilot
will announce "COM one one four five zero" and you radio com1 will switch automatically
on 114.50 same for NAV frequency and I think the heading of autopilot...
List of available default key (you can redefine them)
C=COM1
CC=COM2
N=NAV1
NN=NAV2
H=HEADING
I must say that this will at least enhance MY flying experience...
I love entering COM/NAV by keyboard much more then with mouse...
I think this will be finished in two three hour, I'll let you know how it goes...
(My first test show that the copilot say the number as fast as you type them... it's nice)
