Ok, maybe jets with engine mounted on the tail (where there is no risk of getting something sucked into an engine) can do it, too... In this case the
only consideration is the extreme noise level caused by reversing engines, which some airport do not allow...

I did think, when I first saw the vid, that it was odd for the DC-9 to be reversing using its reverse thrust setting, but then again I could also see
why it would make some sense to do it that way.

Actually, using the altitude/heading mode when landing either still blowes the tires or I massivley overshoot the touchdown zone.

Has anyone else got any tips/tactics for all-tires-inact landings?

I have only had tires blow when I have had problems with my flaps missing. This happened during a flight from KSEA to KCAE. Hit some
bad turb. (windshear) and the flaps were damaged. And yes I checked, flaps still set a 0. I had to make an emerg landing inroute, and
touchdown speed was around 500 fpm and blew right side tires along with collapsing the nose gear which was a surprise. Dan I have a
question for ya..........how do you add failures to the program? I'm thinking like something along the lines of the UAL crash in Sioux City,
Iowa where the tail engine fan blades came apart and shredded the tail section along with all the flight controls, or loosing an engine
during flight. Now by that I mean not just engine failure, but losing the engine altogether (metal fatigue). Don't get me wrong, Love the
program, just looking for a way to add additional failures to make the experience more realistic.

Practice,practice and more practice ....and if that fails practice some more.

And pray on your bare knees that Dan has hearth enough to give FSPX an option to alter or disable
the tires exploding on certain decent rates.

You will have more satisfaction if you perform a landing by the book.
But not everybody has a flightyoke, pedals and a 3 monitor setup.


Simple tips : take your aproach long enough , dont be afraid to go around , use flaps...check your planes decent speeds.

Dont wrestle with the stick ....use small movements...if cockpit landings stay to hard use an external view ...its easier
to place the plane just right that way.

Speaking of which, I have blown a tire in just 2 flights out of about 25 total flights now. The hardest landing I've made, between flying the
A330/340 and DC-10, is -225 ft/min. Those aren't bad statistics based on the numerous folks who are complaining about blowing tires
on every landing. Of course I don't have multiple airport sceneries and no overly resource hog of an addon airplane. I'm still using XP SP3
OS.

In other words, so far I have not been able to duplicate this problem as being systemic. Of course this is based on my pc system, the
hardware I use to fly the aircraft and specific flying technique for each aircraft.

And that's what it's all about, Joe. Good performance PC will not let you down right before touch down while loading other scenery details. If it
doesn't get sluggish, you have much better chances you won't blow the tyre... On my PC I tried to max all the details and it really made the plane
almost unflyable... Luckily enough, I do have a good PC so when I blow a tyre it's really due to my lack of patience to go around in adverse weather

Heh, last night I moved from blowing tyres to blowing flaps. I took out my ATR birdie for a ride and almost forgot how to fly it! On approach to
Gatwick, I just didn't check my actual speed and set the flaps another notch down. Still being at 170 kts I heard some strange noise. Wondered what it was for a while and then my co-pilot said that we have lost our flaps

Well, since I was too tired to declare emergency I just hit ctrl + c and confirmed I DO want to end 'da game'... Almost two hours flight through
turbulence and storms lost just because of my stupidity!!!

I had an idea regarding the tire issue. How about making an addition to the aircraft data in FSP for a blow tires figure, say . . . whatever is
stated in the operating handbook. So when the aircraft is landing the software (FSP) checks the landing rate vs the max land rate in the
aircraft data. After all fuel,CG etc is already in the FSP data.

I'll go back under my rock now . . .
