Dumbest thing you ever did in flight.

worst thing i ever did was on final and i was goin to land things are goin smooth pressed the f7 key and suddenly BANG the plane out of
control and in a nose dive....manage to leval out manage to land wit a report saying a distoyed the flaps.turns out that i pressed f8 indted
of f7

Well dumbest thing for me was nothing I did, but FORGOT to do. I was playing it the hard way (starting with a C182 and working my way up to a 404
Titan). Well, smooth approach into Hamburg Finkenwerder... runway in sight ... idle ... flare ... BANG

Well, I should have remembred, that the Titan actually has a retractable landing gear, which unlike the C182 is in serious need of being extended when
trying to land *doh*

God help us if any of us are ever called on in an emergency - "Is there anyone on board who can fly the plane?"

All too familiar. I may have posted this before but...

Once when I was younger, I was sitting at my C64 and programming like a madman for hours one Saturday - started at around 0600 and
was still cranking at 1800 - save for meal breaks. Anyway, I was so focused, I never bothered to save my work in increments. The next
thing I knew, I was staring at a blank screen! My power strip had a switch and the screen, computer, tape drive, everything were shut
down by... MY DOG'S CURIOUS FOOT!

2. Was bored so I open the door @ 35,000 feets, didn't make an emergency decent and everyone onboard dead!!!
3. Forget to lower the gear...
4. Made a very hard landing and the gear broke...
5. Land without flaps, row off from the runway and killed everyone onboard...

I was in flight from Minatitlán to Mexico City in a Cessna 206. The bad thing about that specific flight is that it crosses the Sierra Madre Oriental
which is a mountain chain that gets as high as 19,000 feet. Since the 206 is not pressurized I had to do a VFR flight so I could find my way through
the mountains without reaching the ceiling of the plane. I had done it many times before and going towards that mountain wall with a little prop plane
is always scary but this time I couldn't make it, yeah, because somehow I screwed with the controls while trying to lean the mix a bit more and ended
with a dead prop. I was very close to the ground and the stall warning came right before I made my little mistake. My heart bounced in desperation and
I banged all the keys I knew but in less than 10 seconds we were on the ground. Too sad. The crew died but the passenger survived. It felt very realistic.

I tried to do the same flight a couple of days later and when I approached the mountain range I was so traumatized that had to do a whole 180 -Han
Solo style for the SW fans out there- hehe, it was so pathetic, but I found a little spot and came right through and succeded.

Other classic stupid things: forget to turn on the seatbelt lights before turning a bit too fast and everyone ended upside down. Resetting a perfect
flight while trying to close the cowl flaps with a keyboard shortcut. Messing with FS settings after parking a 3 hour perfect flight and making the
sim crash right before I ended the
flight...

Really nice aircraft. Is it freeware or payware?

Also when restarting an engine in flight, the higher you are the more you have to lean your mixture. If you give her full rich mixture it won't
restart.

I've got two stories.

1)I flew my trusty PA-42 Cheyenne one time from a grass strip. I was making my departure at about 11pm local time - it was very dark out. I get the
winds, ready my aircraft, set the autopilot, etc. I taxi to the end of the runway and apply full power. About 5 seconds into my takeoff roll I
noticed a big row of trees right in front of me. I tried really hard to pull up and over them but SPLAT, 100kts right into the forest. All 6 on
board killed.

My problem: I taxied to the end of the runway and never made my planned 180-degree turn to turn around! I took off from the wrong end of the runway!
I used about 100 feet of taxi area at the runway threshold and plowed right into the forest surrounding the airport. DUH!

2) I fly on Vatsim all the time. On taxi, I typed into squawkbox my departure intentions, but I wasn't looking at the screen when I was typing.
Needless to say, I hit about 15 keys before I realized I was issuing FS commands instead of typing in the squawkbox chat window. So I clicked into
the chat box, typed my message and proceeded to take off. Only I forgot that when I was typing FS commands, I 'unlocked' my twin engine controls! I
started rolling down the runway and at about 60kts noticed I was veering WAY LEFT, because of course only my right engine was at 100% power!

My passengers were not pleased when I made a 60-degree banking turn on takeoff, stalled, and made a crater next to the runway at 1000ft/min...

Took off from SEA with a virgin 747. Didnt realize spoilers were out (I hit the hotkey) and I stalled and died.

oh maaan... everytime I think of it I could hit my head on the wall...

I was about to land after a 9 hours real time flight from Frankfurt/Germany to Punta Cana/Dom.Rep. and as you maybe know, there is no ILS. No Problem
for an experienced 767-Pilot as myself I thought. lol... Unfortunatly there were a few friends of mine on the Jump seat (or behind my chair) and we
were drinking tequila sunrise... Yeah I thought I had to prove them how great I can land a "big bird" by hand. I flew a flat approach just to touch
down on the numbers. Until that i was an excepional flight with fed passengers and so on. You remember?: flat approach!!! I touched down just a few
feet in front of the runway. The Paxes were scared, the flight was "horrible" the landing gear was hurt and my insurance rate climbed. And as I always
fly in Instant Record mode... You know what it means... + 767 =

sorry for the grammar, I only had 5 years of english at school... lol

ATC terminated because I didn't acknowledge something. It's so annoying, because you can guarantee that during that few mins of using the toilet, ATC
will speak to you.

My turn.

The dumest thing i've done in FSP is go overspeed when decending, another stupid thing i've done is set up the ILS and come in for
pproach in a 737 at about 155kts, setting flaps slows me down and AP adjust trim, imstead i applied full flaps (Wasn't paying attention, to
busy day dreaming) and the plane started to rise (Because of lift from the flaps) ILS took over and plane nosed dive but landed slap bang
on the centre line in the touch down line :D

and it would be accidentally switching off the autopilot causing the plane to climb like crazy

I can't believe I only now caught this one! Anyway - that's very realistic! I have a video that shows a real Southwest Airlines 737 that
crashed through the fence at KMDW and came to a stop in a gas station down the road! Uh, not good! It also shows a car that is
absolutely crushed flat under the forward fuselage! In their case, they touched down beyond the touchdown zone - about 2500 feet down
the strip. Can't do that at Midway - very unforgiving!
