Dumbest thing you ever did in flight. - VF1_Maverick114 - 13-02-2006

Well..I was having a good flight and satisfied passengers with their movies and hot foods and drinks when about halfway through the flight i was
trying to get my GPS to show up but i accidentally hit the buttons where the emergency door open and I had to land, But I went into a sink rate
somehow and crashed and everybody died. Funny aint it? It was a long flight too. California to Georgia. -_- LOL

Re: Dumbest thing you ever did in flight. - 717-200 - 13-02-2006

I've done a few dumb things, I've learned from my mistakes but they're still nonetheless funny.

"I think I'll start the movie *Ctrl+Shift+M*..."<<That wasn't cool because I had only 2 hours of flight time left of an 8 hour, 4,800nm flight

Forgetting to check my speed before deploying flaps and gear

Forgetting the parking brake after pushback and getting the engines to 102%n1 to start taxi. Then forgeeting to throttle back after releasing the brake...

Making a looooong flight, landing, unloading, new flight, load, taxi take off, out of gas, crash...Forgot to fill up at the gate.

Forgot to turn on autobrake and rolled right into a building @ 150kts.

Finally, I'll leave you with the message of: If you ever find yourself on climb out with one engine peaking a little higher than the other, Do Not
Ignore it!!! Regardless if your flight is 15min or not....

They Call me Capitan...lol

I've done the same thing! I meant to press Shift + 3 but pressed Shift + E. Not a good thing at FL350! Just tonight in a flight in
Washington state I had my first emergency; bird strike. I thought I'd remembered what I had read but I guess not...I set the transponder to
7500 not 7700....oops. I received a penalty for not setting 7700 before declaring the emergency and a penaly and $5000 fine for Hijack
squak! D'oh! I did land safely though.

In Flight Simulator with FsP:
--Watched T.V and flew into a mountain on a 19 hour flight during approach; though I had the A/P still set. I did'nt.

In Reality with a Cessna 172:
--Came 25 ~ 50 feet from a busy road in an engine failure landing practice with a Vertical speed of maybe -500 fp/min.... ATC never found
out though.

My Dumbest thing:

Coming in at KJFK in a 744 after thinking I was starting a movie with Ctrl+Shift+M... I was on final at 15,000 feet and 300 knots. A bit
preoccupied... started the descent very much too late.

Well,

I did many MANY stupid things with flightsim. But one day something happened and I did nothing wrong.

I had a short flight from the UK to the Netherlands and I was on approach. Just one minute to go before touchdown, 500 ft, 200ft, 100ft,
50, 40, 30....and suddenly my screen goes black HuhBug
MSFS shuts down, the computer returns to the desktop, then my screen goes black again and my computer shuts down Wonder and I
didn't touch one single key.

So I looked down to my computer, which is standing on the ground. And I see my dog, looking at me with wet eyes, sitting with her big fat
ass against the OFF switch FoolRant

Tasos.

Definitely is opening the doors in flight

Re: Dumbest thing you ever did in flight. - jboweruk - 13-02-2006

How about 1st flight in the pss 777. Coming into Egypt in a Thunderstorm that wasn't there, full autoland as I can't really see the runway,
and won't till the last moment. Looked like it was dropping a bit steep but thought okay it'll flare in a moment, crash, boooom!!!! Ah Shoot.
It forgot to flare in time.

Re: Dumbest thing you ever did in flight. - Jetsgo - 13-02-2006

Just to see what would happen I......

While in flight, about FL300, I engadged the reverse thrusters, put the airbrakes on full, extended flaps fully, put the gear down and
opened the door Smile. I don't remember what happened because it was when I first got FS, but I'm sure it was really funny!

-Forgetting to set the cabin seatbelt sign to ON during landing or takeoff is a fault. (-150)

Got a phone call and reached up to turn down the volume on my PC. I hit the yoke and you can guess the rest. Passengers everywhere.
Pissin and moaning like little girls. You think they never been in a nose dive before?
