Vatsim Europe is ussually covered 80-90% during peak times.
New Client. Squawkbox 3 is easy to install, and the bandwidth and performance is superb. You can see other Aircrafts in perfect
condition, in perfect movement. I dont know why people still play with Traffic AI. With Vatsim, its a whole new game, never ever going
back, and im pretty sure i can speak for the majority of vatsim users.

Nickio I have to disagree about FSHS especially. Since when on Vatsim could some real person be sitting there running the checks and
pushing their share of switches alongside you. And since when can you call those add-ons a joke when real pilots are recommending
Voxatc to learn phraseology before they move up. Not everybody wants to fly online myself included. I like to fly as a means of relieving the
tensions of a hard day and do not have time to spend learning all the necessary phrases to fly on VATSIM which a lot of ppl have said is
incredibly restrictive. Some have suggested that if you get it wrong you get booted on the spot. It can be very hard sometimes to get heard
over the internet if there's more than a couple of ppl online. I know I tried with my old airline's own ATC once and couldn't get heard. It was
the first and last time I tried to fly with ATC online. FSHS taught me to follow certain procedures in a plane. And having a cp in some of the
more complicated airliners is invaluable when landing and it gets really busy. I didn't mean my jibe at Jeffrey to be aimed at all
youngsters just don't like seeing a good add-on slated for no good reason. Remember we don't all have any training. And a lot of us are
making up what we missed out on. If i could have my time back don't you think I would've learned to fly? Instead of learning to drive which
frankly is useless to me now. Of course I would. But i can't go back and I don't have the money to learn so I satisfy my needs this way. I've
learned a lot from FS. Not only about flying per se but geography as well. And a bit of visual navigation and that is not very easy in FS. But
then I know for a fact it's not too easy in a real plane either. When I went for a lesson years ago in a Cessna I couldn't see the airfield till
we were practically over it. Grass strips are not easy to find. I used to be one of the gps brigade. But AP is far more satisfying. when I go
over to FSP on release I shall bring much of what I learned with me to fly the smaller props. And as such will get far more enjoyment out
of it no doubt. Lets not turn this into a flame war though. You fly your way and everyone else wil fly theirs. If flying online is how you get your kicks and you can get heard that's fine. But don't slate down add-ons like Hotseat and Vox because they have also got their place.

As a [private] pilot and software developer myself I have a few things to add:

1. Saying "it sucks", yeah, that's not really a nice thing to say, even if it's not 100% where you'd like it to be.
2. FSP and, I suppose, Airliner Pilot remind me a lot of a flight sim that I had back on my old 386 back in high school in 1989-1990 or so... "Flight
Assignment: ATP" .. was made by the same people that Microsoft bought the flight sim franchise from (SubLogic) and it had the career mode, etc, that
these products do.

I'm excited by the fact that FSP claims to work with any plane, even those with only a few seats - I'm actually more interested in the regional hops
in ERJ/CRJ/prop-driven planes than in flying the heavies (most of my hours are in Piper Arrows... not likely i will get a chance to fly anything
significantly bigger in RL, but I like to keep my IFR skills sharp in the sim, etc, so thats my main goal for the sim) .. having "stuff to do" which
FSP seems to provide, seems like an excellent idea.

None that I know of. The only thing that comes close to FSP or Airliner Pilot at the moment is to join and fly for a Virtual Airline. I belong to
2: Livewire airlines which is one of if not the biggest. And Airsource which is more of a pilot's union, and lets you fly for a heap of different
carriers to real world schedules.

Vatsim and Ivao in my opinion are fantastic. They add that extra dimension of realism to flight sim just not available with software based
atc programs. They are often staffed to a large area and although I have made a few mistakes (such as taxying onto an active runway by
accident! and using the wrong phraseology) I quickly picked it up. The online controllers are very helpful and you can always use the
private chat function in Squawkbox 3 or IVAP if you get stuck. Jboweruk's comments about getting instantly booted and VATSIM being
extremely restrictive are completely untrue. It probably took me 2-3hours from first flying online to pick up all the procedures and then I
was easily away. In fact on the VATSIM website I see real El AL trainee pilots are now using VATSIM as part of their procedure training (so
it is about as real as it gets!). As far as Fsp is concerned it can only enhance this experience - I cant wait!

BTW I am also 17 and I in no way endorse Jeffrey's comments - sadly some people should think before speaking (no offence to anyone..)

I have airliner pilot, and it is a brill game, but it lacks features, and i think this game will bring in all of the 'missing; features and make the
FS2004 game much much better! Dan your gonna make a lot of money out of this game!

Thank you Robjos, well put and I stand corrected. It's just something I'd heard that was all.

I still choose to do most of my flying offline, mainly because there are far too many distractions around me for me to concentrate on real
controllers. My computer is in the living room, and although I wear a headset (currently w/out a microphone which is another reason I've
stopped using Vox(my mics broke)) it can still get a little hectic when everyone is talking at me. I often end up asking ATC to repeat, or if I
hear them then asking my cp to repeat ( or totally ignoring him/her).

One thing I do have to say is that there is some humour in FSHotseat as well, like last night for example in a conversation that went like
this between my co-pilot and Newark Despatch:

CP: " I'll call in for departure approval, Vans RV7 etc. etc." (approval received), then: "all set, ready to go John"

I pulled up a tug to pull me back as I was right up against a wall at this point but we had not asked for one:

Despatch: " Vans RV7 etc. you're pushing back w/out authorisation, that's a write up"
CP: "Sorry about that, captain John had brain Freeze"
Despatch: "Well tell him he better thaw out soon"

Click, pause.

CP: "he oughta chill out"

I was in fits of laughter, especially when that last comment hit. Lucky I was only trying out my new Vans RV7 and not on a commercial
flight then cos it was a good 2 minutes before I could clear the tears from my eyes enough to see where I was going and start taxiing.

I don't know what everyone means by saying it 'sucks'. By the looks of the screenshots it looks really cool. (Though FsP is better )
