Real pilots?

their private planes very much! So you must be quick to offer your services.

Most of the time, these kind of situations happens in Africa....And, from my experience, I won't recommend somebody to jump on the occasion (not
relalistic)...unless you think his life doesn't worth it...

P.S: New presidents, new regime...but still strong opposition...so for your information: not a stable situation. So one day you"ll find yourself (if
you're lucky!) in a foreign military aircraft for evacuation....

Speaking of jobs as pilots.
I was talking to an instructor pilot at my local airport Archerfield, Brisbane.
He said in Australia there is roughly 4,000 registered aicraft and 12,000 registered pilots in Australia.
Once you take out commercial aircraft and commercial pilots it looks more like 2,500 aircraft to 10,000 pilots
Not a very good ratio.
He has been a pilot for 25 years and at the moment the best he can do for work is instruct Piper tomahawk.
This may be a good job for you and me but for a pilot of 25 years, there sould be more opertunity.
I will one day be able to fly solo when I get my liscence but I will never really be a pilot.
That's the reality.

Mine's Arena Aviation BTW, and it would be really weird if you fly there too!!

Trust me, don't fly for an airline in the USA, its a horrible life. Do something else like ATC or dipatcher, they make good money with a more normal
schedule. Take that money and buy your own plane....much more satisfying.

Not neccesarly. While Airline flying can be a stressful
at times. It can also be very rewarding.

Well, Chuck (alias "Chucker" ) wasn't my assigned RIO, Jerry Hull (1971) and Rob Anderson (1972) were, but that didn't mean we didn't fly a lot. He
liked to fly with me because I always brought along my extra-thick telephone book. Helped him check our six much better. We spent a number R&R hours
doing fun stuff (which you could get away with back in the day). Ask him someday about servering champagne to the Admiral's dinner party in the Cubi
Pt. Officer's Club. Or, how about doing a raid on the BOQ pool at 0200 one morning. And finally, ask him how he enjoyed being the Admiral's aide at a
cocktail party in Subic Bay.

Being from Nacatish (sp?), Louisiana, he was a difficult sort to understand. Crazy guy, great guy, and one of my best friends. He recently crashed a
home-built nearly Janakot Airport, which you might have heard about. Saw the pics...he was lucky to walk away. He'll be over here in San Diego for our
squadron reunion in a couple of weeks.

As for the double-ugly, the F-4 wasn't called that by Navy pilots and wasn't known by that name back then. The plane saved more than one guy's ass,
including mine. However, we DID call my first CO "Big Ugly".

Whoa Deacon, you flew the Spook? Man, I got a soft spot for that bird bird like no other. I think it's the shape as much as anything. Ours
had the Rolls Royce Engines and were license built by BAE I believe. But what a plane, seen one fly a couple of times at airshows but
they're kind of dying out now. For shame

Hiya Deacon,

I havent had much direct dealings with Chucker, but what has been has been usually fairly animated...lol....but i dont let on that i have the
utmost respect for him, he's a very good business man.

His extremely short landing off late in someones front yard was flying his beloved VH-OXY which was a Robin not a homebuild and your
right he was lucky to walk away with minor scratches. Unfortunately i understand it was due to more air than gas in the tank, but i dont
know the full circumstances behind it. I think he mentioned that the guage was still reading a fuel amount.

If i catch up with him I'll let him know I spoke to ya.
