I suppose thinking along those lines you wouldn't get an airline pilot deciding where you are going to fly today?
In the real world, airline pilots do not make the decision on the routes the airlines deem to be profitable or have better service levels. The demand has to be there for any airline to function. That's why all airlines have schedulers, planners, engineers, etc, to work out the best system form for the airline. The pilots simply carry out those schedules as safely, legally and reliably as they can.
