Anastasios:
And yes, in economy strategy it is absolutely important to use time acceleration since game play can take a long time period like 10 or
even 10'000 years (like in Civilization).
But FS is a Flight Simulator, and I completely agree with Drew, that simulation can not be made with time acceleration.
But I also do not think that time acceleration is a cheat in FS/FsP.
First of all, there's no need to have ALL your flight simulated. So while you fly without time compression - it is simulation. Everyome do it
at least at takeoof and landing. But when you skip your long legs with time acceleration - it is not simulation any more. But it is not a cheat
either since you wouldn't do anything flight related during that time anyway. Like I say, you may take a nap, and when you awake, you have
already made the most of the flight.
Drew, there is time acceleretion in reality - a sleep. When you go to bed... You may use it while flying with FS too, but there's a
simpler way, just set time acceleration in FS - please remember that FS is not a 'sleep simulator' so it shoud not simulate this process in
reality, and can just skip it's time.
This way, you may think about players who use time compression as if they sleep during their flights!
Personaly, I prefer to stay awake...
Second reason is that it is directly allowed by the game developer (Dan) to use it under certain conditions - less points, or disabled
penalty note in flight report. But it IS allowed... So saying that this is a cheat would mean that the Dan is the one who have invented this,
but this is not possible because Dan sets the rules. So it''s not a cheat. byt a rule...
Even though I do not like this, it does not influence my personall gameplay, and I do understand many people who insist to have this
feature on.
Don't forget - it is a game, so can't spend real time for simulating some very long flights like proffesional pilots do in RW.
Although it is good from this point, it also gives a way to use it in short flights as well, those flights that you can make easily without it (lik1-
2 hours), and you do not even get penalty for it!!!
And in this case, such a use seems unfair (but not a cheat while Dan allow it), and that's exactly why I find Drew's idea very good.
I would like Dan to iplement it this way in the next version of FsP.
It's simple, just log pilots flight hours in real time, not accelerated. All other times, like the aircraft flight time should be still calculated the
way they are now - with time accel, so that yuo have to make more maintenance for longer flights.
So...
