I didn't mean it was depending on A2A's code, but it seems that it relies on aircraft to use the P3D standard API, whereas more and more add-ons have their own routines to replace the sound, the controls, visual effects, and so on, because P3D's (FSX') engine is getting a little outdated.
It's by looking for posts on the Q400 (like this one, this one) that I started to have even more doubts. The failure I got on the engine, or by unloading after the engine shutdown confirm this. If I have to disable the failures (well, actually I did for this test, and I got one nevertheless), the penalties, see spelling errors in the airport names (and avoid specific issues like helipads?)... what fun is there to continue?
I'm sorry to sound negative after all the help you provided. I will have a go at the Q400 with FSP, even though I'm not really proficient with it yet, in order to make up my mind.
I'm also a little sceptical about the number of hours required in career mode before getting to the airliners vs the limited time I can devote to this, but perhaps it's something that can be changed or worked around, like you said I should read again the documentation
But I'd hate to discover other frustrating limitations after hours of patience, so I need to check it out first in another mode.
