I'll jump in here. Last time I tried X-Plane was version 6. Very good if you want to use it to train for real flying. Aircrafts respond the way they
do in real life. Graphically was very bad comparing to MFS. Everything changed with the latest version though, 8.21. Graphics now is
much better, textures are amazing. There are some screenshots of the new version on their webpage.
I took a brake from MFS and now I find my self using X-Plane exclusively since I'm training for my CFI. They are FAA approved by the way.
So the bottom line is, if you want to learn how to fly, use X-Plane. If you wanna just kid around, use MFS.
I'm a long time MFS user myself (since 5.0) and I love it but unfortunately it has a lot of limitations on the flight models. Maybe the new
version will be better?
