I just did a flight on PSS A319 with special attention paid to the lights. Beakon before engines; landing and strobe before entering runway;
landing off above 10,000 feet; back on before descending below 10,000; strobe and landing off when vacated the runway; beakon off
after turned off the engines.
The result:
The landing lights must be activated when entering the runway until 10000 ft, you forgot them. Our company received a fine of $350. (-50)
It is considered bad practice to leave the landing lights turned on when the aircraft is on the parking ramp. (-30)
It is considered bad practice to leave the strobes turned on when the aircraft is on the parking ramp. (-30)
All 3 not true.
Bu the way: (1) in PSS, landing lights are turned on only when the gear is deployed. I found a post on this forum where this issue had
been discussed in detail, but whether or not it's possible, I'm wondering which requirement is accurate: FSP that requires to keep
landing lights on until 10K; or PSS that probably turns them off with the gear for a reason? any references?
(2) having watched the planes taking off from O'Hare (I live nearby), I can attest that during takeoff, aircrafts enter the runway and line up
with the landing lights off; they are turned on just before starting the rolling.
