Hi,
I just had a window crack at 31000 ft on a flight from KSAN to KATL. I started my decent, declared an
emergency and changed my transponder code to 7700. I know that this has been discussed in the
past. The problem is, when you change codes ATC will cancel your flight plan.In this case I chose
to go to Miramar because they have a ILS on 24R and the weather was almost zero zero visability.
In doing this I had to change codes again for ATC. After landing safely and getting 95% from
the passangers, I had a penatly of 300 points, 750-300=450. What I would suggest is When you
declare an emergency and squawk 7700, even if you have to change it back one time should do
it. If that is possibe.
Just a thought,
Dan
