Similar debates have taken place around the Airliner Pilot expansion.
You could argue that after a long flight you would be resting and another crew would take the aircraft on its next leg. Equally you might just
be required to travel "on the cushions" (deadhead) to your next job wherever that might be. As a CA simulation I guess it is correct in that
the pilots don't own the aircraft, the company does and they decide what job and which route the aircraft and crew will be deployed on
next. I work in the UK rail industry and, while not on the same scale, it is certainly the case that traincrews don't stay with the same DMU.
Most sets (DMU's) have diagrams of up to 18 hours work a day and can finish at one of several outbased locations, whereas traincrew
work up to a max of 11 hours (and return to their home depot). Then as and when DMU's (particularly our Class 158's!) break down with
some mechanical or electrical problem they will be swopped around between rosters (diagrams) anyway.
The logical extension for FSP therefore (perhaps) is that the pilot should be in the same location where he landed last, but not
necessarily with the same aircraft. That could lead on to a whole new level of gameplay (FSP2) where you are actually rostered to specific
flights between locations (SWAFO can confirm, I believe the airline term is that you "bid" for a flight, rather than the roster clerk just putting
you on a job?) rather than at random. Entirely optional of course, to cater for those who want to do individual flights.
