Oh boy .... what a stupid idea...... I thought it would be much easier to land with the outside view where I can see the aircraft from
behing .... but I might be really wrong ....

Has anyone tried the "3d glasses" that are advertised on the avsim sites? I think the illusion of depth might help looking thru the cockpit
window. I usually try to get a "feel" as to where the wheels are below the aircraft; I guess you just get used to a particular aircraft.

Although I have sometimes gotten the "What a landing.....!" comment from the Co-pilot. (to which I like to mutter "shut up" under my
breath.) . It's good for realism to blow a tire now and then.

T'wasn't stupid at all: look at the response you got!

And I'll add one as well: I'm with PlaneNuts with this one.. I sim all the way; and if I happen to be flying an aircraft which leaves me "hoping" I
know where I'm going (such as the Citation), then I'm pretty sure a RW pilot will have the same problem.

Actually what I've recommended to new users before was exactly what's been posted above: to land in the cockpit view but with a smaller window displaying the spot plane view from behind.

That way you get a feel for both the instruments and you get the periferal effects from the spot plane window. As time goes and you are more proficient with lining up your approach and handling the cockpit main view, you'll find that you'll be using the spot plane window a lot less... you even stop using it period.
