Axtive Sky6 --OUCH!

OK, lets tell what happened next.

Did a check flight (for me) Glasgow to Heathrow.

Did whole AS6 thing, created and loaded flight plan etc.

Made it real time, i.e. UK evening so dark.

D/L FP into my Schaefells 737.

It all went very well!! As far as I can tell cloudy thingies were excellent with particular note of looking out over wing as I decended to
London. This was best I have ever seen to real life on my Sim. So 10/10 so far. It was dark, but I got suggestion of whispy clouds
acceleration effect as you just drop into them.

Radar? For me forget it.....My specs obviously cannot hack it. It worked great, but killed my key commands! Shift E would NOT open
doors! (Irate passengers-which is standard for me.!) Indeed AS forum relied:-

. CTDs are usually due to scenery add-ons or ADFADs.

2. Unlees you clicked on the Restore Default settings in FSUIPC, AS touches nothing here.

3. Frame rates with AR are due to your Radar settings being too high for your system.

I have taken Radar down two notches to avail.

Kill Radar and key commands came back.!!!

I accept that St Sod of Sod's Law exists, and its just possible that my trusty old Wingman is failing at this precise point of adding in new
stuff. Calibration screen looks fine, but even changing to a Beechcraft on the ground it was pushing left all the time.

So, first flight completed without CTD. Could be weather was relatively calm, (VERY COLD in UK just now), and so conditions
were not pushing the envelope as they were at Innsbruck.

My specs are 2.4, 1 meg, Nvidia 5800 with 8.1.9.5 driver and standard 60GB HD.

AS6 Texture sets I have left to default. My Innsbruck disaster was stunning up till CTD.

I shall try another flight in day time with some weather and see what happens.

I used to do this help stuff on old Compuserve Forums where questions about crashing meant aircraft crashing and users blaming
system! Spent most time teaching on Forums how Cessna's work as we flew around Meigs Scenery in Fs4.

Make sure you do not have an entry in your fs9.cfg that says rendertotexture=0 If you have that line, you WILL crash. Just something else to look
at. I also have ASV6 with no issues but I know that doesn't help you...

That must be system specific because i fly for months like that already without a problem

Ron, maybe you said somewhere but what are your sys specs? What resolution did you choose for your clouds?

512X512. I have taken it down a notch, and will try Innsbruck again!

I shall try a stormy wild setting with say the Beechcraft, and watch what happens.

I just hate compromising an add on I just bought when evrything else is just fine.

Well, even on 128 it still looks fabulous. Don't forget, 512 is huge. It might be the default fs9 size but default fs9 uses less less less clouds and
layers

I've had those kinds of crashes to the desktop too - but I had them before Activesky. I think it has something to do with a *.dll file - so if anybody
finds out what, I'd like to know.

I also heard the same problem arises when you have more than one active AFCAD add-onf or the same airport and it doesn't matter where the duplicates
are located in relation to your flight.

I have no idea what was going on with Active Sky, but thanks to advice from you all I have managed an Innsbruck flight from
Heathrow, weather and all!

Perfect report and a promotion!

Clearly there are weird things going on between AS6, FSUIPC, and my Scahefells 737.

My trusty Wingman joystick is STILL trusty! Sod'sLaw is not in operation.

What was happening for reasons unkown to me, was the Key Commands were getting so B****** up, and I was making assumptions
that core values such as Auto Rudder (there is the Joystick steering) was being left alone! Indeed I imagined that my
aircraft Custom settings (All the way to the right) were being left alone.

They were NOT! Completely changed to simple no crash numptie level.

Now why this happens is up for discussion, but Schaefells brilliant 737 has been known to have strange events occurring to standard
key presses, such as LIghts on gives you a port engine fire! (Need to do it all from upper switched panel) Whether this is whats being
going on, I cannot say. I simply went over every menu I could see checking all settings.

Of course I did re-config Fs9.cfg so that would have reset many things.

Radar screen I have left alone, seems to be big troubles for me, howeevr I will look carefully at it.. Probably the old balancing act,
refresh against eye candy.

I did reduce to 256 AS6 clouds, and so far first flight OK. Indeed very nice! However, it was another cold wintery day with clear skies until
Alps. What was very nice was at dawn T/O from Heathrow Sun and quarter moon were in same front view! Very Nice!!

Once agin BIG thanks to you all, this wee forum is fast becoming my FS home, and I am sure I shall 'break' many things again!(lol)

As it now stands I am happy to watch real world weather develop in my passengers career. (Never knew I was on a career mode!)

Setting up for Innsbruck to El Prat, Barcelona where a month ago I had real word flightl as a left window, over the wing, passenger on a
A320. Fabulous approach over Med and very sharp right turn to approach. Over next few months I am off to Krakow three times, so like
many of us, I work and sim fly these routes before abandoning my fate to LOT airlines
