A belly landing at -200fpm cause the pilot to die?!?!!

the pilot is dead when i belly-land at 200fpm?? why? the crash of BMI 92, the pilot is injured he crash landed near the M1. then the pilot is injured
not dead!

Accident Report:

The aircraft crashed at 10h33 hitting ground at 224 mph with a vert. speed of -246 ft/m.
According to the black-box we deduce the following: One engine was damaged by small arms fire coming from the ground and ceased to function. The right
fuel tank was hit by a ground shot and started leaking fuel. The left fuel tank was hit by a ground shot and started leaking fuel. The vacuum system
was hit by a ground shot. The hydraulic system was hit by a ground shot resulting in total loss of all hydraulic systems. The electrical systems were
hit by a ground shot resulting in a complete electrical systems failure. Your aircraft received a few ground shots. The aircraft was hit by
anti-aircraft artillery fire resulting in a massive hull rupture. This was probably the root cause of the crash. The Captain has declared an emergency
before the crash.

Casualties:
-24 passengers aboard
-18 killed
-6 injured
-Pilot and flight crew were killed

That seems like a legitimate result. That anyone survived that incident is surprising. Belly landing a 707 with 100,000 pounds of fuel is
not a safe bet.

I agree with Lauchbury. I imagine that plane really lit up when it hit the ground. A decent of rate of 200 fpm is kinda hard on the belly of the
aircraft before you even factor in how fast you are going. So yeah, there is a very good chance of you being killed on a belly landing at 224mph with
a decent rate of 200fpm with 100,000lbs of fuel on board.

what about a belly landing on a 737 at 74 feet per minute with 50% fuel and no pax/cargo?

The flight crew rarely walks away from an accident. It seems that the cockpit is not the safest place on the aircraft. I would imagine it has
something to do with it (the cockpit) generally being in the front of the aircraft and experiencing the largest g-loading in an impact
becuase of the vertical movement. The airframe up front is also not stressed for impacts as well as the wing struts and landing gear
areas. I would say (without substantial evidence) that the safest place in an airliner is right over the wing unless you are involved in a
fuselage fuel tank explosion.

In other words, you'd say that with respect to G forces and torque, the safest place inside of something, bound to some inevitable direction and
velocity changes due to collision, is the "Center of Gravity" of that something, no?

I think Newton would agree to that.
