FINALLY! High SPEED!

Hey Brad,

If your not doing much gaming online, I would stay with the package you got. Unless, you really need to surf really, really fast. I pay for the
upgraded DSL I get around 420 down and 250-270 up. Which is very nice. But, I play alot of online stuff so I fell like it's worth it
sometimes.

I mainly use it for browsing, and downloading the occasionally large FS9 file. Just downloaded USA Roads from flightsim.com. I'm
suprised at how I can find an individual road in my city.... very neat. Also, I'm into downloading the free FS9 Terrain mesh... it really adds a
lot of detail, and allows me to recognize areas a lot better. Looks very lifelike.

Downlink/Uplink

i.e. bandwidth for downloads/bandwidth for uploads. Usually measured in kbps (kilobit per second).

They differ, that's why it's ADSL (asynchronous).

Here you all go, You can go to this site and get a rough oidea of what you are getting: I pasted mine below, I am happy enough, not to mention it is
7pm right now so I am sure usage is high from home users right now. If I did it at 1 or 2 am I would probably do even better

As you can see, I am getting close to 2 mbps, pretty damn good for a home users BUT if you really want to talk bandwidth, i am doing some work for a prospect that runs triple OC-3 connections. That is 3 155Mbps pipes in and out for a total of over 450Mbps full duplex pipes in and out of their offices. That is mind blowing... They handle over 300,000 packets per second. Teemus, I take it you have a T1 or T3 to your home, must be nice but very costly...

Don't worry about anything, you have everything you need unless you plan to repeatedly transfer files of hundreds of megs. That score is a benchmark
and does not represent consistent throughput. Your lines are pretty quick DSL though... I have transferred DVD's (gigs) of data over the net. Just
try and do your heavy downloading during "off hours". What browser are you using? Now that you are on broadband, the integrated pop up blockers and
some of the other features are really nice with FireFox... Right now I have (all in tabs in one browser window) FSPassengers Forum, Flightsim.com
forums, LVL-D forums, PMDG home page (watching for the 747) and google in a single browser window. It is a free download if you don't have it
already, http://www.mozilla.org

A buddy of mine recommended firefox too. I'm using Internet explorer right now with no problems... have done so for the past 7-10 years.
It'd be hard to convince me to switch. I'll give it a look though.
