Now my pilot's dead - what now?

Nice to read chatman's pilot is back to live.

Now, enabling intant record means that we are ready to accept the result of any failure somewhere in ajoystick button, our finger or one of our decision.

I am not ready for this. I don't want to loos points or pilot rank because i messed something. So I don't enable this option.

We don't have to choose the more difficult, the more dangerous or glorious option. We just have to accept what's the result of our own choices

I would recommend as FSP matures and gets more of a user base, you might want to make resurrecting the pilot an option, because as
people get higher and higher in flight class spending more and more hours, there are probably going to be a few untimely virtual deaths
that you will get emails to fix.

Only reason I dont have my FSP to autorecord flights is I have had my sim go black screen once in the early days of having FSP where
everything was working except the visuals and I could se the fear rise in my pax from them I would guess, nose diving, which caused all
to virtually die including the pilot. Now, I didnt mind starting over as there were a few things I wanted to change anyway and I was only C7,
but for someone who has many more hours under their belt, they probably want to resurrect.

Maybe a hard limit on resurrections of say 3 times total and after that like a cat with 9 lives, on the 4th for the pilot or 10th for the cat, their
wings are the feathered kind and harps are playin'

You could have ctrl-alt-del = shut down FS9. You would have only lost the most recent flight.

Or you could've just pulled your computer's plug from the wall. Unfortunately FSP is trying to simulate real world aviation, and this is what
can happen in this risky job! Glad you got your pilot resurected! Too bad we don't get those types of second chances in reality!

Yes this is already included it's called "Instant record of flight"
the box is unchecked by default and the text say something like:
"the flight will be automatically registered even if your pilot die"

Changing this to what you say would see this option renamed

"instant record of flight but not really finally"
*if your pilot die you will need simply to bring a dialog to resurect him"

in this last case better simply disable completely this option ?

Sorry I cannot fully protect peoples against themself

there is NO confirmation box in real life...

I hav a suggestion to make: Because I also see more people asking "God" for resurection (last but not least because of me starting this thread) Why
not add the possibility to "buy" pilots? I don't mean ebay but add it into the bussiness modell of the game. Already you have to think about ticket
prices, consider if you pay fixes yourself or let insurance pay but face higher insurance costs. So talking about real life and simulatinng as real as
ist gets: In real life thre are hundreds of pilots looking for a job on the free market. Every company could simply hire them.
So why not implement a "job pool" where depending on your reputation and/ore the size of your company (# of aircraft) you would have access to some
pilots that also cost you money!
Say you had your pilot C5 and you have 2 Aircraft, your reputation is 89%. You would have the possibility to choose between 3 pilots. one C0 who costs
2000 per month, one C2 costing 3000 and one C4 costing 4000. limitation could be to have the highest available pilot 1 stage below the one who died.
Yes, you could even make the company model even more complex by having us to pay for all the crews. don't want steward? no problem but then no service
on bord but less passengers...

OK I know it's not as easy to impliment such changes as to think about them. maybe all that stuff is too much into airline tycoon. but that's just my
2 cents.

I lost one of my pilots last night, and really stupid it was not my fault or even an FSP failure that caused it

Picture the scene if you will: Beech A36 sitting on the Ramp at KLVK, load pax, load cargo start running preflight checks. All fine so far.
Engine start check goes to plan right up until I decide to look around outside as my pilot is firing up the engine, then to my dismay the
whole plane falls over backwards: I know what you're thinking the CofG is outta whack due to my cargo load, okay well yeah but no
different to how I normally fly this bird and have done since FSP came out. Anyway all I can do is gape in horror as instead of the tail just
settling on the ground like you would expect, it sinks into the ground then BOOOOM!!!! sounds of screaming crew and pax and the FSP
dialogue comes up, your pilot is dead your crew are dead and so are your pax (alright not in those exact words but you get where I'm
going right?).

Now what?? Do I start again (yet again?) from scratch? Do I do what I've done other times and take my calendar back even further (these
pilots came through a war to get where they are today, and that took place originally before FSP came out). Or just accept a bad mishap
delete that pilot and just carry on with my remaining pilot?

What a dilemma.

And, you won't believe... how simple is the solution

Leave your dialog box as it is

"Instant record of flight"
the box is unchecked by default and the text say something like:
"the flight will be automatically registered even if your pilot die"


then, when the user as clicked on "OK"

brings another dialog box with something like
"God mode: you can resurrect your pilot (checkbox) (Okbutton)"

Should the user activate the God mode and click OK, the autosave loose it's thrilling value and it is a pitty so, just bring another dialog box with
something like
"Agnostic human mode: If your pilot die... It's for ever (checkbox) (Okbutton)"

Should the user activate the agnostic human mode and click OK, All rank, bonus, flight hours would be lost when the pilot dies and it is real P.I.T.A.

No problem, just bring to the user the God mode dialog box !!!

Now what if the user DOES NOT check the box in the Agnostic human mode ? The resurrection will remain possible so, the autosave loose it's
thrilling value and it is a pitty.
No problem, pop up the Agnostic human mode dialog.

As well, if the user DOES NOT check the box in the God mode dialo ? All rank, bonus, flight hours would be lost when the pilot dies and it is real
P.I.T.A. Is n't it ?

All possibilities are then coverd. Don't tell me that implementation of this magic solution would be diffucult .

Now, another thing is annoying:
We just took care about the pilot and totally forgot our crew and passengers... A SHAME !!!

Please, add the apropriate option for passengers and crew resurrection. Because
1: it would be fair
2: Resurrected passengers would be greatly relieved to come back into life which would brings mega bonus points. and fantastic company reputation.

I have found the answer to dead pilots for small GA companies: go to http://www.eaglesoftdg.com and go to the GA page. It's called the Cirrus
SR20 G2 and is now available to purchase. It has a working CAPS parachute system, hey no more dead pilots

What I will do is if the "instant record" is checked at company creation
I'll put a warning box so user are fully warned about what mean the "instant record" :
that you can loose your 130 hours pilot for a dumb mistake.

Now I don't see the point to make an instant record mode that
you can reverse ? it's not instant anymore, better to not check it ?

The "De luxe" version of Cessna Citation X CE750 with animated female passengers is tantalizing.

But when I read that they include the pilots ammong the " Multiple animated surfaces"...
What can happend in flight ? is this plane very correct

Their pilots are animated, they check the instruments which you can see them doing from the outside. Eaglesoft do some decent models
and the Citation X was the first one I purchased. I'm definitely buying the new Cirrus asap.
