Payload model for Feelthere Cessna Caravan Deluxe

Hello!

Do anyone have a good payload model for feelthere cessna caravan deluxe. If I use
the default one that come with fspassenger I land like a brick hitting a concreate slab.

I just purchased FSP, so I'm still blundering my way around. However, here's a maybe useful tip I got from a real world Caravan pilot. An
idiosyncrasy that the airplane has, when you're on final approach you have to be careful to keep your throttle up. Control speed with flaps
and proper glideslope, because if you throttle back too much to lower your speed on short final, your descent rate takes a nose dive (in a
manner of speaking). I haven't flown the feelThere Caravan much yet, but perhaps it just models the real world airplane pretty good?

Ok, I just want a payload model that behave the same as the original feelthere payload model. When I fly with the original payload model
the Caravan is a bit nose heavy on short final so I think they have modeled it correct. The problem is that fspassengers model makes it
worse times ten. If you own feelthere caravan, could you just load it up to full load with the fspassenger payload model and do a short
flight? It would be good to hear another persons opinon.

I did 4 test flights, here's how it went:

Aircraft: feelThere Caravan Deluxe and default FS Grand Caravan

Parameters: 4 pax, 200 lbs cargo, 100% fuel, CG centered, aircraft at 75% Max Ramp Weight
To minimise pilot error, land at OSU (Don Scott Field) an airport I'm familier with in real life and FS; visual approach (takeoff from CMH)

Results:

feelThere Caravan, FSP loadout: aircraft had a pronounced sink rate on short final with full flaps; required about 50% throttle to
compensate; even with full nose up trim, had to pull all the way back on yoke to keep nose wheel from touching down first

feelThere Caravan, FS loadout: sink rate not as pronounced, required about 40% throttle to compensate; landing a little smoother
because I learned from 1st flight--should have done this flight first, then the FSP flight

default Caravan, FS loadout: sink rate not pronounced, easy to land

feelThere Caravan, FSP loadout, landing with 20 degree flaps: sink rate about the same as with the 2nd flight; hard landing due to pilot
error, passengers ticked off

Conclusion: The FSP loadout does result in a greater sink rate than with an FS9 loadout, requiring a higher throttle setting to
compensate. I have no idea which is closer to reality (maybe a real Caravan pilot could test this for us?). I forgot to mention in my
previous post that the high sink rate occurs with full flaps. In real life, when flying GA aircraft and the runway length permits, it's a good
practice to land with less than full flaps--about 50% or 1 notch less than full, depending on the aircraft. In my opinion, lacking
comparison with the real life Caravan, the FSP loadout is acceptable as long as the pilot is aware of the handling characterics and
exercises good judgement. Try setting prices low to encourage lots of passengers, load up with full cargo and fuel to MTOW, and
practice landing at various pressure altitudes and flap settings.

Thank you for your time and dedication. I just wanted to hear that the payload model did´nt match that of the original Feelthere caravan.
The Feelthere Caravan model have been tested by real caravan pilots so I think its a close match to the real thing and therefore I will try to build
a fsp payload model that closesly match it. The biggest problem right now is that fsp calculates the CG way of where the center should be.
I´ll keep you all posted in this thread.

I completed 2 test flights, as follows:

Using the aircraft.cfg posted above by kenshins, first with FSP--similar loadout to the one I posted here previously. Aircraft CG was
centered, and takeoff weight was 77% of MTOW. I needed slightly less power to stay on the glideslope--about 40-45%, but final
approach speed was a little high. I think keeping the nose up, bleeding off some speed, then setting full flaps just shortly before
touchdown would have worked better. The runway at OSU is long enough I could have landed with less than full flaps, but that wasn't the
point. Without FSP the aircraft handled pretty much the same, but I flubbed the landing because I was trying to see how low I could set
the throttle; the aircraft landed hard and the nose gear collapsed. In short, kenshin's new aircraft.cfg seems to bring performance with
and without FSP to much better agreement.

BTW, in case anyone's wondering, I actually enjoy stuff like this--I spend about as much time with FS tinkering and testing as I do flying
from here to there.

I'm not familier enough with aircraft.cfg files to understand the weight & balance parameters, but I know a little about calculating W&B
figures for real aircraft, having spent 6 years working with C123's and C130's. If there was a need (or desire) I could probably write a
stand-alone weight & balance calculator. But then again, if a lot of simmers wanted something like that, someone would have written
one already?
