The GSP1/GPS2 switch is on GPS1 by default. GPS 1 is the Garmin GNS 430 and the GPS 2 is the standard FS GPS . (Who wants to use the standard GPS when you've got that awesome GNS430?!? ) 2. When you use the Garmin GNS430, the GPS/NAV button can ONLY be changed by clicking on the CDI button of the GNS420! This button toggles GPS (green letters) and VLOC (which is in fact NAV, white letters) on the lower left corner of the GNS430 screen. You cannot use the GPS/NAV button itself! This button can only be succesfully clicked and changed when you use the standard FS GPS. 3. APR doesn't work with the GNS430 in GPS mode: so make sure the GNS430 shows VLOC otherwise APR won't work! (I suspect this is the cause of your problem.) When set to VLOC you in fact use the GNS430 as an old fashioned NAV radio (by entering freqs in the VLOC part of the screen), while you can still see what you are doing and where you are going on the GPS-screen. 4. When you select an approach using the GNS430 the ILS frequency (if available of course) will automatically be put in the VLOC standby field of the GNS430. DO NOT forget to click on the flipflop button to make it the active frequency otherwise APR won't work no matter what you do. 5. The final check: make sure that when you get close to the airport the Sandel 3308 EHSI shows ILS in the top left corner! Finally, if you haven't already done so, be sure to download the magnificent official Garmin GNS430 manual here: http://www.garmin.com/products/manual.js...0-00139-11 You only need the Pilot's Guide. It's an awesome read and EVERYTHING works in the simulated GPS as IRL! There is an ILS approach example on page 87 and further of that same Manual. Let me know if things still go wrong: I'm completely crazy about the DF A36 and very willing to help! EDIT: Made a small mistake with the GPS1/GPS2 button: it's alright now...
