FS9 - Soooo.......Frustrating

After an outstanding flight, including a perfect landing, and 100% happy passengers, I was taxiing to the gate, when another aircraft
decided to push back from another gate. No word of warning from ATC to either of us. I stopped when I saw the aircraft but then it
reversed straight back into me, and CRASH! 14 passengers dead, 20 injured, aircraft written off.
Couldn't you just spit!

Damm I know the feeling, that happened to me too, someone slew right across the airport and killed my 100 odd passengers.

I'm using Ultimate Traffic, so I have the same problem. I simply disabled crashes in FSP, and FS9, and no more buggy crashes!

If landing at a busy airport where you have a lot of traffic, before you land turn your traffic down to 0 so you dont run into this then once you
are parked turn it back to 85 to 100% (I have mine at 100% and have had a couple of crashes with the former airline I created taht I
accidentally deleted)

It hasn't happened since i started using FSP but once i had a 737 drop down in front of me on approach and another time i was vectored
all over the eastern seaboard in Concorde

I guess I've been lucky so far. I'm also using Ultimate Traffic 100% and never had that problem. Knock on wood!

I have been tailended by a Lear at Maderia approach, which is a easy(???) approach to do! He jumped me on landing!

It is not often the case, but listen to other ATC messages, and if someone is on approach to same runway as you are, have a look around
to see where they are! You can proabbly see their ID.

As for following aircraft onto runway, keep a close watch that they have exited runway! Missed approach for this one. I suppose
simulates real life!

Of course my ATC messages are a delightful useless orange because somewhere in the past I havve changed default, and cannot
recall how I did it! (very senior moment!) So, under certain weather conditions, I HAVE to have on earphones and listen!

My Co-Pilot Molly the spaniel is useless at remembering ATC commands!

You can go to the Kneeboard, which keeps a log of the last couple lines of communication with ATC. As for the orange, you're on your
own!

I hate the crazy ATC vectors that FS9 likes to give. Typically, what I'll do is if I notice FS9 ATC getting a little tipsy (i.e. vectoring me to
FL250 when I'm on final), I'll simply cancel my IFR flight plan, and contact the appropriate airport control facility (tower, traffic, etc.). You
can do this without sacrificing too much realism as well. In our FOM (Flight Operations Manual), it states that an IFR flight plan can be
cancelled if you will remain within the arrival airport's Class B airspace at all time. You can't cancel an IFR flight plan to expedite traffic
movement, or when the weather is below established minima, etc. I've actually only done this a handful of times in real-life flying, and
we'll normally only use it if we plan to fly a visual approach using visual observation for traffic seperation. I use it almost every flight in FS
though. Hate the damn ATC vectoring!

In reality, we can tell ATC what we'd LIKE to do. In FS, they tell us what we HAVE to do. If we don't comply, we'll get yelled at in quite a
rude way. Too bad they're not more friendly.

I've learned to deal with the odd FS9 ATC quite well, so I'm going to stick with it. I don't think I'll spend money on a ATC addon.

Thanks for advice. I do this as I cannot always see my ATC. I suppose having to listen adds to tension and reality.(lol)

Try listening in reality! A LOT HARDER! I wish real life ATC was near the clarity of FS9's! Only in a perfect world!

Indeed! many years ago while trying to fly a wee single engine, I got lost above Scottish Lochs. Instructor suggested I get an ATC fix.
Sadly for me my call sign was prefix RR.

sure!
