FSP and Vista

Hi

I know that there are posts here alredy and I should post this problem there, but the post that I read said not to respond to this post.
So here it is.

I did as the post said to do right click on FS9 and run it as the admin. Ok here is the problem when I run FSP on this vista computer I have
to first put FS9 in windows mode to get to the FSP's pop up window. If I dont the FSP's window is locked under FS9 and I can't get to it.
Affter all that done and I put FS9 back to full screen it's like my graphics card has been turned off. I have a invidia 8600 graphics card so I
know thats not the problem. Has anyone had this problem before?

Ahhh, maybe your resolution is set to high. It happened to me when I use 1680 res. plus 16X SLI with Nhancer. If I wanted to change res. back to 1600
on my Samsung widescreen, I would have to go into windowed mode to change it, as full screen mode would "lock" the menu bar. I have the 8600 GTS as
well. Using 1600 res and 8X SLI works great without the menu bar locking.

My screen resolution is set to 1024X768 and I'm running two moniters. Could the two moniters be the cause?

Very well could be the dual monitor set up. You sure you have it set up correctly within Ntune? I don't have the dual monitor situation, so I can't
help with the proper settings.

No I'm not sure about the dual monitor. This is my first invidia card. I had Radeons on my old computer. The invidia is a bit different from
the radeons. FSX looks good. FS9 look good untill I run FSP. When I run fsp fs9 looks like I've took the Anti aliasing off.

i have the 8600 GT Dual [SLI] 512MB, what is the recommended optimal resolution? I am planning to get an 24' widescreen monitor.

Have you tried Nhancer for antialiasing problems in FS9? Google Nhancer, download and install it. Turn off AA within FS9 after that and you won't have
any AA problems.

Ok I downloaded the Nhancer, but there was no chang. I turned the AA off in fs9 and with out the AA on with or with out FSP it looks like the
aa is off. Here is a screen shot this is how it looks with FSP on and with out AA on http://www.vintageatc.com/images/noaa.jpg

Cuold this be caused by directX 10? I don't get it.

Which ever resolution gives you the best performance, but still a nice look. If you can go at the full resolution and still achieve about 25FPS
average keep it, or if you can't (or want more) then go to the next lower resolution. Eventually you will find the sweet spot

For FS9 I doubt it, as FS9 doesn't do anything with DX10.

Sounds like it might be a driver issue to me, kind of like the black box issue when opening menus on top of FS9.

Perhaps try different drivers, and see if you still have the problem?

I downloaded 169.25_forceware_winvista_32bit_english_whql.

This is for the nivida 8600 GTS 512. I uninstalled the old drivers before in stalling the new ones. Maybe I just don't have the right drivers.

Wait, so FS2004 doesn't use DX10 at all? If that is the case, I will just install XP on my new gaming computer.

I don't know alot about Vista and directX 10. My thought is that Vista and DirectX10 handles sound and video much diffrent that XP and directX 9 did. Microsoft made Vista, directX 10, and FSX to work together. I've found that FS9 will run on a Vista computer, but Vista does not realy like it. FSP was made to work with XP and directX 9. So could the way that directX 10 handles video be why fsp is running on the way it does on a Vista computers?

right? I understand the directX 10 reads and prosseses sound and video much differently the dx9. If fs9 was made to run on dx9 and your
ops has dX10 would the effect how FS9 runs?

I have the AA problems too, but only in the FS9 main menu the aircraft preview doesn't apply AA or AF but it works ok ingame.
Also have the same problem with FSP on Vista, didn't try to open in windowed mode yet i'll try. Using 1280x1024 res and no SLI ...

It's the AA of the FS9. Turn it off and use external AA from your NVIDIA PANEL. I used it and it worked fine.
