HI there,I'm just strating with fsp. and I would like to know something about landing light. I set light penalty on, if I switch off by mistake
theese landing lights for a second below 10,000 ft. do I lost point for that mistake ? Thank's

Don't try it.. I grabbed the landing light switch as opposed to the taxi light switch (Bill has yet to get the touch and feel of these switches
correct) and there was Dan's authorties within the second or two it took me to get the landing lights back on. My company gave me a bad pilot bonus
(negative points) and we were fined by the authorities.

This feature must have been added in for the Euro operators flying Airbus. "Hello, authorities, yes this is Airbus 12345's landing light. The stupid
pilot turned me off and my altimeter stated that I was below 10,000 feet, the pilots name is Ken. Can you send him a fine for me. Really, that would
be cool, thanks. Landing light switch out." Or maybe this is why they tell us not to erase the CVR after shutdown. PNF: "Taxi light
switch off" nearsighted Captain: "Off" PNF: "Darn is Joe that was the Landing Lights." ...latter that day Authority
with headset plugged into CVR "Oh, Boy!" Leaves ticket on aircraft windshield.

Well, in the air there is some leeway but as Ken so delicately pointed out () there is no grace on the ground.

The landing light penalty is based on the altidude not time.
There is a some sort of "transition" range where you can fly with landing light either "on" or "off". It's from about 9800 to about 10200 ft.
You are penalised if you have them "on" when above that range or "off" while below. Although I'm not sure about exact value of these
altitudes, I'm sure that it works this way. Once I was flying with landing light "on" at some 10150ft for about 15min and got no penalty.

You are completly right.
But, you do not have to treat those penalties so serious. I mean, you can get only -30 points for bad landing light setting. Meanwhile, you
easily earn about 300 points for an usual flight. So that it is virtually impossible to get negative mark for your flight if you get only landing
light penalty. So, it's not a "ticket on aircraft windshield" by any means. You still get positive result, and your rank will still increase but only
for some 10% slower
Just notice that you flight result is still "perfect" even if you have received all light penalties!
So it's just a very small detail, like a music on the ground, that does not influence you FsP careere greatly, but gives you a chance to
perfect your skills.
It's like in reality - if you make this mistake, you woun't be punished, but if you do it in every flight, someone may notice it, and this may just
slow down your careere growth a bit, lets say for those 10% or some
So, isn't it fair form this point of view?
And yes, you may turn this penalty off if you do not want to bother yoursef with this minor feature, or your plane does not have the correctly
working lights.

One thing that I would like to add here. There are default FS planes that do not have proper lights to work fine with FsP. Piper Cub is the
one. But what is even worse, DC-3 and Learjet-45 are bad in this too!
I'm flying them a lot so I have advices for those who are interested.
So, DC-3:
Problem: it does not have a strobe light switch. All others are Ok.
Solution: use strobe light hotkey, defined in FS9. Default is the <o> key. It will togglr strobe light, though you will not see it form outside,
since DC-3 does not have it. But FsP will get it right and will not penalize you!
Learjet:
Problem: beacon and strobe lights are combined and have one common switch. So that you can only turn them on of off simultaneously.
Solution: well, there is no hotkey for a beacon light in FS9. So you have to edit panel.cfg. But you don't need any software for this, you only
have to replace one or three rows in this file using any text editor:
Replace this:
gauge09=Lear_45!Strobe Lights, 34, 264
With this:
gauge09=King350!Beacon_Light, 34, 264
Now you'll be able to turn on your beacon light with this switch, and you'll have to use the <o> hotkey for strobe.
You can also add a separate switch for strobe, but that's not necessary

Thank's everyone for your help, I will cancel lights penalty that' it. To bad because It makes less real like that ,but I lost points many times
just for this bad move.Anyways Fs passenger is a great add-on and it makes flights much more interesting and realistics. This forum is
very usefull and I'm verry happy to be part of it even if my english is not verry good.

I wasn't overly serious about the landing light penalty and was trying to make light of it.
