Bad Bonus Math

Perhaps one of our FsP gurus can explain this miscalculation....

Overall Flight Result: Perfect
Pilot Bonus points: 300 points (-30% because you used time acceleration)
- You made a very nice landing. (+50)
- Perfect Flight, no problems and very satisfied passengers. (+150)
- You landed at the scheduled airport. (+30)
- Precise arrival time at destination.(-00h17:32 difference) (+100)
- Extreme weather conditions during approach, but a safe landing and satisfied passengers.
(+100)

...because when I was in school, 50+150+30+100+100 ( - 30) = 400, not 300

hmm, I think that's because minus 30 %, not 30 points

Total 430 points x .30 is 129 rounded to 130

430 - 130 = 300

Time acceleration kills ya

What if we got a lot of minus points, say -1000, and that time accleration penalty?
hmm,
-1000 * 30% = -300
OR just -1000
OR - (1000 *30%) = -1300

Anyone knows the answer? (coz I've never used time accleration)

-30% affect only possible bonus not negative points.

As said before it's less a penalty than a reward for people that don't use time acceleration.

yea especially when u have a big 10000000 page essay u can just set up a flight and do ya homework so that means getting hours of flying on ya records
and the teacher not having a go at you the next morning what a great idea

don't get me wrong....I'm still monitoring the instruments and the atc.

btw, AFAIK a real life captain can have a little chat with his copilot while flying, and some of those long houl pilot can even take a nap!!! Well,
since I have no copilot or extra crew member, my second monitor is the next best thing to keep me fresh and awake

It doesn't have to be boring to fly at c2 You can always fly the aircraft by hand, and if you have got a really worn-out aircraft the suspense alone
could
kill you.

If i'm bored during a flight, I usually use the time to visit the flightsim forums here, or at avsim, or I watch other aircraft take off and land. I
also have been known to watch episodes of MASH during long flights. If I was a real world pilot, I would probable have rigged one of the FMC displays
to play dvd's.

Plus without time acceleration you would have got a big long flight bonus.

I see you were 17m off time and still got the "on time" bonus. That must mean the flight was quite long. Flights over 2 Hrs I think get a
bonus - a large bonus. So by using time compression - you get penalised twice.

You can always cheat... I mean edit the game to your liking, by turning off the time compression penalty in the config file.
