FSP and PSS Airbus landing lights

Hi!

I am using FSP and enjoy it a lot, but I have a big problem in using PSS Airbus aircrafts and panels with it.

FSP wants that the landing lights to be switched ON below FL100, otherwise, it gives a strong penalty...

OK! but when using PSS A3xx or A340, the landing lights are automatically switched ON by the software of the panel itself, and ONLY
when the landing gear gets down.. and I don't put the gear down at FL100 !

If I switch manually on the landing lights at the overhead panel, the switch goes effectively to the ON position, but the lights are still OFF,
and only go ON when the wheels are outside.

I could not find any solution to this problem and every time I flight with the PSS planes, even if the flight is perfect, I always get a big
penalty.

I can disable the "light penalty" feature of FSP, but it is no so realistic!!

Any idea ?

Hey Patrick,

The landing lights are on, even if the gear is not lowered and you cannot see them (glitch of the model)
To switch on the landinglights use the CTRL+L keys, this way both FsP and PSS recognize the proper command. If you switch them on on the overhead
panel with the button, FsP, won't recognize it as such

BTW, I solved the battery bug by the easy way, registering FSUIPC. Now, just have to learn the subtilities of MCDU, FCU, EFIS and consort...
I had a good flight today from LFPG to LLBG. At arrival I was assigned to runway 12 instrad of the planed runway 26. I could not find on the fly how
to enter the change in the MCDU, so it always tuned it back for the 26 ILS... Finally I found the button to reset totallt the MCDU and could enter the
good frequency and course.
This up to date way to fly is still full of mistery for me but exiting.

Pegase, I usually don't set the rw till i get one assigned, works best for me.. (maybe not like the real thing, but well... )

Hi!!

I tried the CTRL-L command with the original A340 from PSS and also with the A340-300 from Posky...

Still the same. The CTRL-L command makes the LandingLights switch of the overhead panel go ON and OFF, I hear a "click" when I type
the command, the "LDG LT" is displayed on the EICAS, all seems to run fine, but FSP still gives penalty at the end of the flight because
of "no landing lights below FL100"

Very frustrating !!

And if you disable the "lights functionalities" of FSP, you get a ridiculous set of points at the end of the flight !

Very bored by that because this pss panel is my favourite..

I fly a lot with the pss series too but what do you mean with the "points" when disabling the lights penalty?
I did some flights with that and didn't see anything weird. Can you post a log of your flight maybe?

Pegase, I did a flight with the 320 again today, you can just click on lsk left of the arrival airport and it will show you i think at lsk r1
"arrival" where you can just choose for a new rw and overwrite the previous entered one.

below is a report of a flight using the PSS panel with "faulty" landing lights on the runway. I did switch the landing lights ON with CTRL-L
command and the landing light switch was effectively in the ON position on the overhead panel... but FSP did not detect it.. I thing I am
condamned to through away the PSS panel !!

Before throwing away any panel, what are the 'weird' points you wrote about when disabling this penalty? I'm in a flight now with the 320 and it
seems fine so far. I will do some more research too and get back to this soon...

i cant help as i dont have the plane or the panel, but this is from the FAQ

How to make a succesfful flight in realistic mode:
1. Prior to start the FsP flight shutdown all lights and all engines.
2. start the FsP flight.
3. Start beacon.
4. Start Engine.
5. Release parking brake.
6. Put strobe and landing light on.
7. Take-off.
8. Put Off landing light when passing Transition altitude (10K feet usually)
9. Put On landing light when descending below TA.
10. Landing.
11. Put Off landing light and strobe when taxi speed below 30 Kts.
12. Set parking brake, Shut down engines.
13. End flight or shut down Beacon before ending flight.

Thanks Dutch, I tried already but the approach was ADDED to the first which was not removed... This making a pretty spider web all arounf the airport .

For my current flight from LFPG to CYMX (Montréal, not Toronto...), I stoped filling in the flight plan at the YMX VOR and will add the approach
when assigned to the RUnway, (Should be the runway 6 with the current METAR)

About the landing light, I confirm, whatever you activate the light with Ctrl L or panel switch, the landing lights are considered OFF assoon as your
landing gears are up. And like you Patrick, I don't want to disable the light penalties. I fly with FsP to be challenged, what would be the point to
deactivate some ? I don't want to play cheat and tricks against bugs but fly properly a fully functional virtual plane.

I like a lot this plane except its unreadable VC. probably it was 100% OK with FS2002 but . But for FS2004, I think it would really need some update
to reach the quality anyone waits from a payware plane.

I see you have exactly the same problem as me.. I feel not alone anymore! And you are like me: why to disable penalties of FSP because
of a "plane bug" ? ! Like you, I like to flight as real as possible.

For Drew, in the PSS panels, the transition altitude is 6000 feet or something like that, and impossible to change... so even if the landing
lights would switch OFF automatically at TA, it would be too low, and FSP would also put a penalty.. but in reality, they switch off
automatically when landing gear gets up. impossible to modify, even if the landing light switch is in ON position..

These PSS panels are too much closed applications. Impossible to change any parameter of the MCDU in an external config file. All is
frozen inside the enormous .GAU file, and that's it. Not an open application. And some explainable bugs can happen if manipulate too
much the MCDU during a flight.
For example actually: all my planes cannot flight more than 350 knots!! The ECO mode of 50 give usually 330 knots (0.58 Mach at FL310),
but if I pull the Speed button and set the speed manually at let's say 0.82 mach, it never goes more thant 0.60 at different altitudes or
weights of the aircraft.. I don't understand why I cannot flight quicker.. few days ago, it was fine.. and I did not change anything!

PSS panel and planes are good, but you are right Pegase, too much old, and updates would be welcomed.. but PSS never did it..
I use the Ken Mitchell ones which I reworked by myself for new or extended xml gauges and am happy with it. Works fine, but I like the
MCDU and flight plans routes, and the only way for FSP to work fine is to use a Posky A340, Ken mitchel's panel and FsNAV.. It's a pity!!

I would like to find a good and realistic Airbus panel much up to date for FS9 than the PSS and with MCDU operating. Does anybody
know one even payware but at least good?
There are a lot for Boeing but I did not hear about such nice for Airbuses.. that's a shame!

I agree with you that there should be a brand new airbus or at least a panel.... I know some company is developing one but when i checked the website
last month they were still very far from release...
About the TA, you can just change that on the PERF page and browse to the APPR section? (I'm in the 320 now and i can set it up there, maybe not for
the 330/340? )

Yes, it is the same as A320 to change TA with 330/340, but it would be nice to set it permanently in a config file
