purchasing a damaged aircraft

Another thread kind-of covered this but wasn't quite specific enough, and I don't think the manual covered this, so I'll ask. I
purchased a FFX-SGA DC10-30 United Airlines. At the time of purchase, FSP instructed that the aircraft was flown excessively by prior
owner and the prior owner did not authorize maintenance routinely, the aircraft needs repairs, and gave me a repair price. I authorized
the repair. I have flown, or attempted to fly, approximately 20plus flights with this aircraft. Each flight ends in 1 of these three
scenario's: 1-upon takeoff the flaps are damaged after pull-up, per the co-pilot, and I always abort (10% flap t/o up @ approx 1000 ft
approx 160-170kts) 2-upon takeoff the flaps are fine but gear is damaged when raising, same stats as above; 3-takeoff is fine, flight is
fine until I approach and drop flaps or gear, only to be told by co-pilot that one or both is damaged, speed well below 180kts. Realizing
this could all be pilot error, but this many flights?...same thing? Seems without fsp the aircraft flys fine, no failures and always safe
landing, hard sets, crash detection on. How does fsp determine that the aircraft is damaged? Does it really "repair" the aircraft? I
believe the only config mod I did to the plane prior to purchase was install a smoke system, but not certain of that. Should I reload the
aircraft? Any help on this is most appreciated.

When a plane wasn't well maintained in the past, you have to expect an higher risk of failure.

So the failure risk is

% base failure ..+.. % past maintenance.. +.. actual maintenance....+...% region level..+=..true % of failure
......say 5%...........+..........say 40%.................+............ say 10%..............+............5%................=... 60%

(If only guessing numbers here...) So you "true" % of failure can be as high as 60% (and maybe more!) even if your base failure is 5%!

So be cautious if you buy a wreck... It can be costly!!!

Thanks Pagir. Makes sense. However, the 2 other fellows I fly with on mp have the identical plane(zip file forwarded by me, and
purchased with no repair cost involved) and their flights always successful. (not always good flights, but no flap or gear damage as is my
case). My difficulty level is set to 5% and all other parameters are set to default. How does fsp know the aircraft had little-to-no
maintenance? And another question now, does fsp instruct you at repair needed time?.. or is that something I should always reference
at flight end? I may sell the plane and reload with no modifications (if I did any at all) perhaps that may be the key here, just not sure.

If you zip your plane to your friends, maybe they did buy the same anyway, because FsP create the choice just prior the buying.

FsP has its own tracking failure level for the plane you had purchase. It don't write anythink on aircraft.cfg., so each plane is different.

You have to check in one of the tab of the company manager menu to find to find if your plane has to pass maintenance or not. It's related
to the number of hours your plane was flying. You have a base maintenance after 25 and an extensive one after 100 hours (if I remember
well...)

And yes, sell your plane. If you buy it again, FsP will offer you 3 other planes, maybe a new one will be better!

Thanks Pagir. Okay, I'll sell and take a look at re-purchasing and the "optionable" aircraft if offers. Maybe I'm just not lucky on my plane
picks, last night a 727-200 needed repairs in excess of 8million before flyable. As far as the maintenance, my flying is limited to about
2 hours a night (well, with this plane even less), so I don't think I've hit any major repair levels as yet.

It could also be that the plane's cfg is a bit askew. I use the Aerosim DC-10 and have no problems

damn, they're some good prices i thort my $12m dash 8 was a good purchase!!! looks like i'll be taking that back!
