I was just on approach into KSLC and my gear wouldn't come down all the way (forgot to do a repair after that last rough landing
) So I
declared a mayday and set my squawk code to 7700. But in all the confusion I screwed up my approach so I declared a go around and started on the
course back around that the atc assigned to me. Then the atc comes on and says "...your transponder is set wrong or inoperative please set to squawk
2036."
Why is it doing that? Is this how it always is?
