Multiple Bootable SSD

Hi,,

Please let me explain my rig. I have 3x 250Gb SSD. I have buildin a sata quickport internal docking station single bay . So that makes it easy to change the SSD.
On each SSD i have installed Windows10, the needed drivers, the last updates. Installed Prepar3D v3.1, And on each SSD installed the specific addon's for that
Continent. ( i.e. Europe, North America and Oceania.)
On the North America SSD if have and can use succesfully FsPassengers.
Now i will on the Oceania SSD and Europe SSSD install PsPassengers too.. and here comes the problem.
During installation it report that can not read the DDL.XML file ( file is there ) and final succesfull installation.
If i started Prepar3dV3.1 , no startup of FsPassengers and no FsPassengers in the menu of Prepar3Dv3.1
Somebody any idea?????

Yeah, this seems to be a tricky one...especially since you are using the same sim on each drive. I assume each drive has a different name for the sim?
Is each installation of P3D reading ONE dll.xml or are there separate ones? Since I have not tried multiple installations of P3D 3.1, I don't have
direct knowledge of how this would work exactly. Maybe the FsP installer is looking at the originally installed dll.xml and not the other ones...if
applicable.

Hello Joe,

Thank you for your reply. In addition, EACH SSD has his own OS, Prepar3D and therefore each SSD has his own DLL.XML file.
Before i begin, PC is power down, then make a descistion in which Continent i woud like to fly. i.e. North America. Then i insert the North America SSD.
Powerup the PC and start the flightsim and FsPassengers and make an joyable flight. Shutdown the flightsim and Windows and Power Off.
Then for example i remove the North America SSD and insert the Europe SSD start windows, flightsim and want to use FsPassengers.
And ofcourse if i want to fly in Oceania and do the same as herebove explainend.

Interesting way to do things, Peter. Doesn't it get a bit tedious to keep removing and inserting SSDs? Is this to save resources on your pc when
running the sim? Just curious. I have 1 SSD (OS) and 3 VelociRaptors but never thought about the method you use.
At any rate, this is certainly above my pay grade (which is zero), so I'm hoping either Dan or another pc guru can comment.

Well, i am not changing everyday from Continents. So swapping SSD is not too much work.
Yes, it's not the cheapest way to build the various flightsim's, but it's a lot of work.
The great benefit of all of this at the end my PC from cold start to let say my first home default airport takes less then 3minutes.
Comparing my previous buildup on a convential HDD it takes more then 20minutes.

I installed FsPassengers to a complete other PC aswell, and no problems shows up. ( just for testing )

I know from the past that some programms were able to store some information directly in the BIOS, were the programme reads the MAC address.
I am wondering if this is happends too in my SSD configuration ????
So hopefully, if Dan can confirm this.
Maybe he read this post and hope for an answer.

And ofcourse all other suggestions are more then welcome.

Do you have the latest generation CPU like the i7 6700k with dual 980GTX Ti's? It seems P3D is better about utilizing dual GPUs. My next build is
going to have at least 3 SSDs and dual GPUs, as I intend to keep FSX and P3D going. With dual GPUs, I don't think FSX is going to be happy with the
set up.

NVDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti
From Sharkoon Quick Port bay ( for insert / remove SSD )
Matrox TrippleHead to Go Digital edition
3x 22" connected to tripplehead ( DVI ) for P3D
1x 22" connected to HDMI ( Navigate programm, Teamspeak and Online connection
Saitek yoke, pedals, switch panel, comm panel, navigate panel and 6x FIP's

My motherboard has a PCI -E 2.0 bus, so i cannot use a 980Ti card, i tried a 4Gb PCI-E v3.0 but it was not reqconisched.

There is a much cheaper alternative if you would create Continents like i have done. Please let me know.

I do have the 2600K OC'd to 4.6 Ghz. Come to think of it, this chip has been clocked that way going on 4 years now and shows
no signs of slowing down. I did change the 580 GTX to a 780 GTX a couple of years ago and this has been a perfect fit for the
2600K, plus 8G of Corsair Platinum 1600 MHz ram. As I think of the 6700K chip, I don't see many people overclocking this one
past 4.7 or 4.8 Ghz. Kind of disappointing for a fairly expensive chip and all of the other hardware needed to get it stable.

got an idea where each one is always pluged into the computer
Make an 18gb partition on one of the drives and put Linux Debian onto that partition, then you can put grub onto there and you can now select which one to
boot from easily without pluging and unplugging. It is a more difficult to setup than I made it seem, I can try help
