after thinking about it a long time, i think that is what i really want, so i dont have to start with ga a/c and start all over

Those are two different options:

1) You can enable the "Economic mode" and be responsible for the financial decisions

AND / OR

2) You can enable the "Career Mode", which will force you to begin with a one propeller plane.


So there's four possibilities:

Economic mode AND Career Mode enabled: You will begin with one propeler plane and be responsible for financial decisions

Economic mode BUT NO career mode

Career mode BUT NO economic mode

No Economic mode AND no Career Mode: You'll be able to fly any aircrafts, will not have to buy them before flying AND will not have to do
any maintenance.

thanks for clearing that up, now about the career mode

what is the actuall progression?

for example if i use career mode could i climb the ladder with these a/c

1. i start with the bonanza a36

then after that do i have to move up to a single turbo-prop? or can i go directly to a twin?

and if a twin, does it have to be a piston twin? or can it be a turbo-prop twin?


say that if i fly the a36, could then i move up to the beech 200 twin? or would i have to fly something like the piper navajo first before the
b200?

have i confused everyone?

For my experience, the firts levels are the longest to complete, since the planes don't have great autonomy.

Hmm, perhaps in an upgrade can we scale those levels so its slightly easier, I have just been reading through them and 822 hours for
the maximum level, well thats a lot. The maximum number of hours pilots are allowed to do in a year is 900 here in the UK and therefore
if your on 1x simulation rate thats gonna take at least half a year of flying a lot. Even on 16x speed its going to take 51 hours, but thats if
you can land, taxi, deal with failiures and do just about everything else required for FSP at 16x speed. I suppose that would be ok, but it is
still gonna take me a long time to get to the top. Perhaps a scaling so the number of hours required could be divided by four or
something? Im not really sure but I think that 800 hours flying is a lot for my interest in flightsims.

Edit: Ah I suppose I dont really ever need to get all that way to the top, so if I just beocme a senior Captain after ~200hours and I can fly anything, that would be a reasonable length of time

Don't forget that there are two main variables that dictate a pilot's career progression: fligth time (experience) and points (piloting skills). What
Pagir posted above was the experience table. On top of that scale, you also have point requirements for each level. Dan is the only one who knows
exactly how the promotion system works but it seems that both scales are dynamic. If you are a good pilot, you will get more point and you might be
promoted BEFORE the actual flight time requirement is met. You might also be demoted if you fly poorly and lose too many points. This is another
revolution in the world of Fs2004: an addon that valorizes skills over simple flight time!

So C4 might do it (but it only says Turbo Props) and C5 will definitely cover you. In your case, it might be worth it to make a career. Use the lower
levels to learn FsPassengers and by the time you get to C4 or C5 (a couple of days using time compression) you'll have a fleet under you. Also, the
C172 and the Baron are good training planes since they force you to manage the seat bealts and you have more time to change the other settings like
the altimeter and the lights.
