Stuck In Vegas

I can't figure this one out. My flight plan was from KLAS ->KSFO. I've made this flight a number of in the past without any problems till
yesterday.

First attempted flight. Just after dusk. We were rolling down runway 25R and just as Otto called V2 my landing lights picked up a SWA
737 just parked in the middle of the runway. That was a real mess and did get recorded.

Second Flight. Just about sunset. A United flight landed on 25R as I was taxing for takeoff along the side of 25R. I heard him being
given clearance to taxi to the ramp. Well he tuned off the active and guess what...... BANG!!!

After these two attempts I thought I'd try my luck at a flight from KPDX->KSFO. At long last FO Otto and that crew member in the back,
plus the 32 Paxs got into the air. Strange, as the following programs were also running.

As a work around for this problem you can disable crash detection, at least your flight won't be ruined by some drunk AI then.
Furthermore, ground AI is difficult to monitor (if done at all) for aismooth and rc4. It happens sometimes....

I've been having trouble with Vegas too. Mine is odd AI (thankfully no collisions yet) followed by the black screen of burning death. I finally
got rid of the freeware AFCAD I downloaded and got a different one. I haven' t had the courage to try it again. Plus school started so I'm
busy planning all night again, (I'm a 3rd grade teacher). Maybe just switching the AFCAD will solve it?

flight simulator AI has a lot of trouble with LAS's design. Planes take forever to get to a taxiway and sometimes get stuck on runways or in random
places. LAS is a mess in FS.

Have you guys tried adding a new AFCAD file? At http://www.projectai.com there are a few to download for KLAS, even for the
FS2004 standard scenery.

I just downloaded http://afcad.projectai.com/general/afcad...ownload=76 , and in the readme file, you can
read, "Redesigned some of the taxiways to use the diamond in the following thread to stop bottlenecks and jams
on outer runways for landing aircraft." So this file, once installed on your addon scenery folder, may solve your
problems with AI traffic and KLAS.

Give it a go.

Yeah I have that file. Planes still have trouble at LAS. FS just doesn't like that design.

have you tried ..

Pause fs
Change time accel to x32
Change time accel back to normal
Unpause fs

Usually most planes have got on there way, and you wont get a pen for using time accel as your paused.

Unsure if it will work on this dodgy sounding airport

Time excel remimnds me of something I've done in the past when an AI takes the active then never T/O. I just uncheck the airline traffic
airliner traffic box. Then after my T/O I put the check mark back. I'll do that the next time. A little slow, but still better then having a 737
parked across the runway in the dead of the night.

Yeah i hate FS Vegas, its my fav airport for the US i have all the best possible add ons for it and the AI wont work properly. The amount of times i
have been given clearence to land and smash into another aircraft is abysmal, i just turn off collision detect when i arrive and back on when i depart.

I was curious. I was in Vegas over Memorial Day this year. I had a 5 hour layover and was plane watching. I noticed that the entire time I
was there, all four runways were in use. In FS, it seems that only 25L and 25R are ever used. I have also noticed that some of the
AFCADs people have made specify that only 25L+R are used. What exactly is the justification for shutting down half of the airport's
capacity in FS? Perhaps that is part of the problem.

On most days, 25R and 19R used for take-offs while 25L and 19L are used for landings (there is a great spotting sight just off of 25L on Sunset
Boulevard, and you can tune your radio to listen to ATC!). I believe the runways are used depending on which direction the aircraft are approaching
from, as well as their size, as it seems most of the planes using the 19 side are smaller jets and props. On days when the wind is blowing the other
way, the 7's and 1's are in use. FS9 makes horrible use of this system, often landing jets on 25R and causing massive delays. There is an AFCAD with
crossing runways in use available at Avsim: lb_klas.zip. This is for the default airport. There was one by David Cooper for Simflyers, but I can't
seem to find it in the library now. These files, as well as utilities like AI Smooth can definately make McCarran more flyable. On the other hand, I
can think of worse cities to be stuck in!

I downloaded an AFCAD that opened all runways for landing and departing and have not had a traffic problem since. Wish I could mod all the KLAS
AFCAD's to do it.
