Hey all, long-time simmer, short-time FSP user. Purchased FSPX unlock code earlier in July 2018. Downloaded the latest version of FSPX. I was at my mother's house since my internet was down at the time, so everything was saved to a USB stick. Went home, attempted to install FSPX on my *old* Windows XP 64-bit computer, only to have an error message pop up stating that the FSPX installer was not a valid Win-32 application. Downloaded another copy at a friend's house, only to receive the same error message.
Distraught, I dug around online at my friends house, and found an older version (circa 2015) and attempted to install that back at home. Okay, awesome, it works. I input my unlock code. Boom, full version access. Yay!
However, every time I open FSX, I was forced to reenter my unlock code, which I've done numerous times now. Lo and behold, while simming today, I got the dreaded WRONG AUTHORIZATION error on the top of the screen and FSPX dumped my flight.
So now, instead of continuing to be a dummy and dig my grave deeper, I'm asking for help (which should have been done in the first place to avoid this madness). To start, is the latest version of FSPX even compatible with Windows XP or is my OS obselescent and require updating? Two, have I screwed myself out of the legitimate unlock code I purchased from simmarket by using it so many times instead of doing this right the first time? $45 American is hefty for me, and I can't afford to repurchase an unlock code.
Please note that yes, the copy I managed to get to work on my computer is labelled as a CRACK, but the crack is a modded gamedata.bin included in a separate folder which I have not applied. Frown upon me if you must, but I admit this us probably the reason all this trouble came to be. However, I have used only my legitimate unlock code. I have proofs of purchase and receipts to show this legitimacy, and was simply trying to work this out with the extremely limited internet accessibility I had at the time.
Respectfully,
gvaero
