How much does it cost to learn to fly?

I am 16, and I would like to learn after playing a lot of FS2004 and having a lot of fun just flying around. But I am wondering how much it
costs to learn. I would think it would cost less for a flight simulator fan, because they know more than the average newbie, but even still,
what would be the cost of everything, and how long does it take to learn, for a private pilot?

It costs about $4,000-$5,000 for your Private Pilots Lissence. Depending on how offten you fly (once a week is best if you can afford it) it takes
about 1 year. But it varies alot depending on the person and how offten you fly.

I paid about 3400 back in 1993 for my PPL. I payed around $3500 a couple years ago for my IFR. I've done lost track of how much I've
spent on my Commercial license. Figure 125 hours in the course...all of which are in a PA-28R which here costs $85/hr...45 dual hours
which cost $20/hr....oh man...I just did the math.....$19K ish...no way that's right...

Theres this commercial pilot program in this institute giving students 45hours of training costing around $50000CDN. If you exchange the rates, would
it be a reasonable price? Or would learning from flying clubs be cheaper? Also you will receive a diploma after graduating from school.

Expensive, yes indeed... but non as much as here in Italy. I've just taken a look at the prices at the Aero Club in Milan and for a private pilot
license you have to pay 11000 euros... now that's really really expensive!
But i want to get more and better info because i'm interested too in taking a flight licence.

also here in Belgium it cost 11089 Euro this is in a training school, the best is for PPL that you go to a small airport in your area and that
will make it alot cheaper , I found here a place to do it instead of paying now the 11089 Euro I pay only +- 7000Euro so I can save the
other money for my instrument rating training. ( but for PPL avoid the big airports, and there training schools )

for at least 5 years and you've got to have the right requisites... but i'm not interested at all in military life...

It cost him about $9000 for a two week course which included 50 minutes in the real thing. Also, not the cost for training in the actual
aircraft: $55/minute!
