A new KR87 ADF gauge - enjoy : )

With considerable anxiety and, one might say, reservations : ) I present to you my first fairly complicated gauge. Again, before posting it on
Avsim, I humbly ask those interested to try it and post their opinions as to its realism, bugs and such.

What exactly are its features?

Features:

Just like its real-life counterpart, this unit includes 2 timers, as well as standby frequency facility, active frequency of course and night lighting. All modes of operation are identical to the original. Manual is included.

I basically implemented everything I found in its manual except:

An RMI needle unit (only the radio stack part is implemented)
That optional switch for starting/stopping flight time (currently triggered by airspeed)
The timers become inaccurate when using time acceleration ((usually over x16) when acceleration exceeds the capability of the gauge to update at least once a second)
Test mode, Auto dimming, ADF/ANT difference, BFO mode (as there are no such things in FS)
A countback timer behaviour inconsistent with real world unit (flashes 15 secs before time runs out, not 15 sec after, wrote it wrong in the first place, didn't have the heart to rewrite, since it worked)
Off switch with regards to timers and stdby freq (need rest or task switch now, this thing took like 30+ hours)
Some limitations on freq tuning (see manual) - couldn't figure it out : (

Here is a complete operations section rom the manual included with the gauge. Based on the real one, naturally.

2. Operation:

Frequency Selection

The active frequency (to which the ADF is tuned) is displayed in the left side of the window at all times. A standby frequency is displayed
in the right side when “FRQ” is annunciated. The standby frequency is placed in “blind” memory when either FLT (Flight Time) or ET
(Elapsed Time) mode is selected. On startup (loading aircraft), standby frequency will be the same as the active frequency.

(Note: KR87 is not designed for receiving fractal frequencies, only whole numbers. Therefore, upon gauge startup (loading aircraft), if
ADF frequency was not round, it is rounded to the nearest whole number, both in standby and active frequency)

With “FRQ” annunciated, the standby frequency is selected using the frequency select knobs which may be rotated either clockwise or
counterclockwise. Rotate the small inner knob to tune 1’s, carried to 10’s. The outer knob tunes the 100’s and the 1000’s from 100 up to
1699.

The standby frequency selected may then be put into the active window by pressing the “FRQ” button. The standby and active frequencies
will be exchanged (flip-flopped), the new frequency will become active, and the former active frequency will go into standby.

(Note: Due to a bug which I haven’t been able to figure out in this version, one cannot swap a standby frequency over 1699 to active.
Therefore, I limited the tuning of the standby frequency to 1699 KHz maximum. In the event you would need to tune to a VOR of 1700 KHz
or higher, use the active frequency tuning (timers mode, see below). In that case, you will still be unable to swap it back to active after
swapping it to standby.)

Click the volume knob once to switch ADF audio on, click it again to switch the audio off.

Operating the Timers

Flight time or elapsed time are displayed and annunciated alternatively by depressing the FLT/ET button.

The flight timer is activated by airspeed and will start counting when airspeed reaches 35 KIAS. The timer will stop counting and freeze
when airspeed falls below 35 KIAS. The flight timer will be reset to 00:00 whenever power is interrupted by the avionics master switch.
Always read flight time prior to power shutdown.

The elapsed timer may be reset back to 00:00 by pressing the SET/RST button. It will then start counting up again.

(Note: pressing the SET/RST button will reset the elapsed timer whether it is being displayed or not.)

The elapsed timer also has a countdown mode. To enter the countdown mode, the SET/RST button is depressed for about two seconds,
or until the “ET” annunciation begins to flash. It is now in the ET set mode, and a time up to 59 minutes, 59 seconds may be preset into
the elapsed timer with the concentric knobs. The preset time will be displayed and remain unchanged until SET/RST is pressed again,
which will start the elapsed timer counting down from the preset time. The display flashes for the last 15 seconds before the timer
reaches zero. When the timer reaches 00:00 it will start to count up.

(Note: The standby frequency which is in memory while flight time or elapsed time modes are being displayed may be called back by
pressing the FRQ button, and then transferred to active use by pressing the FRQ button again.)

While FLT or ET is displayed the “in use” frequency on the left side of the window may be changed, by using the frequency select knobs,
without any effect on the stored standby frequency or the other modes. This feature is especially useful when searching for stations with
unknown frequencies.
