DX10 in XP

Hey!

Just bought a 8600GT and works fantastically However, I was just wondering if you can somehow tweak XP to get DX10 compatability?

I tried XP Service Pack 3, as of now, very buggy, stopped ability to connect to the internet

it wont be done by microsoft, they said it would be to difficult and arnt going to go into it, but there are people are are approaching the
problem on their own, so even if it is possible it will be some time off before they produce anything considering it is independent.

I just found some topics regarding the SP3. It seems many people who have tried it are having major issues right off the bat...either
installing it or after installation they are having BSODs, constant reboots and inoperative IE7. I wouldn't touch this service pack with a 10
ft. pole.

The SP3 is done by Microsoft, so far the only issue I had was a long startup (rebooted and fine) and the inability to connect.

Its coming along in stages, just like SP2

I think it's a watered down version of DirectX 10...for XP that is.

No need to get rid of XP to enjoy DX10, just install Vista on another partition/HD and have a dual boot system. That's what I'm doing, booting under
XP when I want to play FSX (I don't want to reinstall all FSX just to try an ultra bugged version with DX10), and under Vista when I want to enjoy
Crysis, the beta of Age of Conan etc... There are many things still annoying with Vista, so when not necessary you'll still prefer to be able to come
back to good old XP, believe me :p

Yeh, I have come back to XP from Vista but don't want to re-format!

So would DX10 work even if Vista is installed on another partition, but I boot into XP?

I dont think so, you need to be in vista for full DX10 features, and that XP DX10 link you found is the stuff I was talking about, I run vista, so I
am not worried about XP DX10, but if that works, I wish you the best with it! but im not sure how accurate it is going to be.
