I love FS9! Its great and there is nothing wrong with it. But FSX will be even better. Of course, we'll have to spend lost of cash on addons
to make it as good and even better then FS9. ![]()

Not sure where it states FSX will be delayed? Holiday 2006 still seems to be the target date, the Windows Vista operating system is
delayed until Q1 2007. FSX will not be effected according to the developers and is still on target for Holiday 2006, most likely between September and November, and there will not be 2 versions or a patch as FSX is optimized for both XP and Vista. As far as making FSX look as good as FS9 with addons be aware that most of the terrain will be 38m mesh and other developments include realistic modeling of the shape of the planet, in other words darkening and curvature the more altitude obtained. From some of the screenshots it looks like FSX out of the box will look as good as FS9 with add-ons, but who knows until it is released. Check out http://www.fsinsider.com for an explanation and videos of the new terrain via the Global Terrain Technology article. Ian.

Microsoft recommends Vista as it supports DirectX 10, but does not say that you can't use Windows XP. I expect that FSX will run OK on XP, except for a few graphical features that require directX 10. You still get all the other improvements like better flightmodels (if any), better VC's, animated wildlife and missions etcera. I find the whole article very speculative anyway, suggesting there might be seperate versions of FSX for XP and Vista, or that they release a sort of unfinished version for XP first, and you may have to pay for an upgrade once Vista comes out. I suspect that when FSX comes out, it is feature complete and you can run it on XP, even though some of the features may only work after you have installed it on Windows Vista.
