Check out Golden Eagle from Flight Prep. RW flight planner that can be used for FS. I like it especially because it give a vertical profile
depicting terrain clearance. And it is a free download!

I use http://www.fltplan.com
It's free and has very good features. If I'm buying the gas I also use http://www.airnav.com to plan where I'm going to buy gas which sometimes has a great effect on the flight plan. I also use NOAA's aviation weather flight tool as weather can effect the plan also. It's at http://adds.aviationweather.gov/ I hope this gets you started. If you have any other questions just ask. http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ is what I use for PMDG and LDS's fmcs, but I wouldn't go using it for default flight planner routing.

Quote:REAL flight planing For real world flight planning I use Jeppesen's Flitestar Corporate version. This is clearly more software power than would be required for your average FS2004 session and the price is very steep not to mention the cost of updates every 28 days. For FS2004 planning I generally use FSBuild as it 1: works outside of FS9, thus I can run it prior to ever booting the simulator, 2: has lots of options for integrating with 3d party add-ons and 3: is generally very accurate. Another equally well program is FSNavigator version 4. This program resides inside of FS2004 thus you have to have FS running to run FSNav but it also adds a very simple psudo FMS. By going into FSNav or running in on a second monitor you can quickly see if your running early thus loosen the reins or running late and time to stoke the coals. FSNAV also has excellent 3rd party add-on however I surmise that its flight planner is just slightly simpler that FSBuild’s. FSNav also comes with a moving map that can be linked to your multiplayer session.

Have anyone over here tried Courseplanner... if so how does it compare to the FSNav, FSBuild and FSCommander?
