A sad day... again

When is it enough, when are we going to make the decision that it is ENOUGH already? We hurt, mame, mutilate ourselves, our
neighbours, are poor Mother Earth for that matter at the slightest opportunity that we get. Why do we feel the need to show this self
desctructive behaviour in our so called civilised world. I understand that when we were cavemen... dark age simpletons and renaissance
suave airheads we had no idea what we are doing to eachother but in this day and age of information, knowing what is wrong and right,
we make it worse by rather than working together as a human race we hurt eachother more immensely than our forefathers could even
imagine. From H-bomb to African genocide... from Milosevic to Hitler, it is NOT enough for us. Even though I am Australian now, I was a
UN blue helmet for my old homecounty when the war in Yugoslavia started and the things I have seen in that short period of time of being
there in that Hell have made me to this day enjoy every single breath of air... every single day I bless the fact that I am alive... I am so sad
right now...

I am of course talking about the bomb attack in Bali... yet again. May the Gods be with us in these dark dark times of violence and I pray
every single day that we as a human race will pull together as one and set our goals of achieving... peace at least amongst ourselves.
Utopia? Maybe but I am a believer in a greater good, and that greater good starts with yourself and NOT with someone else. Sounds
religious? Maybe but I am far from that I just handle one rule in life... to be a good person, nothing more nothing less and I try to teach my
children the same thing. Will it work ? I don't know but I will sure as heck give it my best. Anyhow I am going to stop because ( I am not
afraid to admit ) I am crying and I need to go for a drive with my family to the lakes and lay in the sand and watch the moon and the stars
and think of the good things in life.

I tottally agree with you. September 11th, the London rail attacks, now this... The really sad thing is that these bombings were not a
suprise to me.. not because I expected Bali to be attacked, just because I expected the world to be attacked, period. It's really sad that we
as humans have come to expect bombings, and it's no longer a big shock and "Oh my god!" when a certain place gets bombed, at least
not to me anymore. I honestly think that the world as we know it has come to expect this. It's just no longer a suprise, you know what I
mean?

What do these terrorists get out of this? Do they honestly feel satisfied? Do they honestly feel like they did they're country a good deed?
And do they honestly think that what they did was the right thing, in deffence of their country? I hope not.. how can they even have respect
for themselves?

Over 100 were injured, 3 of them from my country, and it effects me aswell.

Not to be "cheesy", but what is this world comming to?

Oh, really?! Me too! Where were you stationed? I was an interpreter for ECMM in central Bosnia throughout all the war (it was EC and not
EU way back than). We were only protected by UNPROFOR but had nothing to do with them (we were 'Icecream men; you must have seen
us - wearing white but no weapons whatsoever) We were working with BritBat, FranBat,...PakiBat...but I've never heard of an Australian
Batallion?
Yes, it was sad, but things MATTERED these days. Now it's all the same... or is it just me getting old?

I was still in the Dutch Army back then... as I said my OLD HOMECOUNTRY and later on in my rant I say " I am Australian NOW" ...
DutchBat Sebrenica ...nuff said. Things didn't matter to anybody back then nor does it to people now and THAT is what is bad.. we just don't learn.. by the way, I am NOT proud of my Army time there.

There was a Dutch transport batallion in Vitez (they called themselves 'hell on wheels' ). Too bad you weren't there but in Srebrenica. But
don't take it too bad - there were tooooooo few of you to make any difference. It was UN's failure.
John is very right; the world is in a worse shape than ever and it's getting worse and worse.
The good news is the things can't just keep getting worse forever - something deep down inside, something very rotten will have to snap.

VERY WELL SAID JayKae!! What puzzles me most is that alot of the senseless horrific attacks are being done in the name of God!!??
Now....no matter what your religion, if you believe in God by any name, and that He is the creator of earth and man....how can you justify
destroying His creations??? Totally boggles my mind!
But, as you "lay in the sand and watch the moon and the stars and think of the good things in life", keep the faith and spirit! No matter
what evil dwells on our planet, I will continue to raise my son to love, honor and respect ALL PEOPLE, to care about his home (earth), and
to worship however he chooses a God who is loving, merciful and filled with the desire for peace among ALL of his creations.
Fortunately I also believe that everyone will face a judgement, whether you succumb to cancer, old age, or a bomb strapped to your
back....and I can only imagine the conversation.......

God: Why did you intentionally destroy 3000 of my beautiful creations that I made in My own image???

Terrorist: Uuummm.....uhhhh....well.......I thought you'd like it......errr...emmmm...I mean....I did it for you....well....uuuhhh.....I
mean.....uuuhh....I hated your creations.......

God: Ok.....good enough....here's your ticket.......don't let the gates hit you on the way down! Oh, and don't expect any beverages or food
service for your trip. And please fasten your seatbelt, it's gonna be a L O N G bumpy ride!!
