HAS ANYONE FOUND THE FLIGHT SIM FLIGHT PLANNERS TO BE WRONG? (under-estimating flight times for trips)

Let me explain how I found out........

I'd been using an AI flight planner to compile a new set of traffic for fs9/fsx which would basically be my own custom airline - flying to
destinations of my choosing.

I noticed it seemed to be allocating a fairly lengthy amount of time between destinations (like 1hr for a 215nm trip). When I compared this
to fs9 & fsx's planners I found it around reconed that the flight should take aproximately 40 minutes!!

I'd just done a short hop between barcelona and Perpingon and noticed on the navigation table flight thingie that it had showed me as
taking 32minutes to complete the trip (around 80 miles)

When I plugged the data into my AI planner I was amazed to find it was recommending that the AI should take 31minutes

Basically I think the fs planner us currently under-estimating journey times and is presuming you'd be traveling at max cruise speed for
the duration, rather than taking into acount taxi-ing, climbing and descending!

Anyone else found this?

What AI flight Planner have you been using?

I did the same thing, made my own Traffic of my airline, and a few real Airlines in Australia no one in VA communite cares about, (and
also compiled some of other traffic mainly VOZ, but its my personal traffic)

I am using don grovestine's ai flight planner - I've just noticed version 1.2 has been released where it fixes a bug where some traffic may
never get displayed! Looks like i'm working on fsx again tonight with my custom flight plans!

Let me know how you get on,

I use yRoute and obviously TTtools I belive YRoute once you get the hang of it is incredibly easy to use....

But hope it works for you

Well one thing I clearly missed was compiling the flight plan using traffic tools. I WAS using AIFPner's own compiling software to compile
my plans. Worked ok for fs9 but failed to work for fsx.

Last night 22/6/08 - I had an idea. Build and put together the flight plan in AIFP but do not compile it. instead I saved down the txt files to
another directory (namely where TTOOLS was) and then used THAT to compile my plan into a bgl file.

I put it in my addon scenery folder and PRESTO

I then got stuck in a queue of five airliners (as well as waiting for an easy 319 to land) three of which were of my newly created "gazpode
air" airline!

lol, It took me a while to figure out TTools, then someone told me about it, I thought it was the only thing to use for AI traffic... lol
