How do you repaint aircraft? I don't want to remodel, or retexture, just make new paints.

Probably wrong place to ask but here goes

Repainting is easiest of you have a file with layers. Photoshop, or Paintshop Pro utilize layer capabilities. If you have a file with all of the
textures on their own layers (windows and exits, weathering effects, shadows, seams in the metal, etc) then you can make a new layer behind all of the texture layers to make your paint with. Here's an example: This pic shows all the layers for this particular paint kit I created. I put a blank white paint layer towards the bottom of the list, then seams on top of paint, decals on top of seams, and shading on top of everything. And here's the same file now with an actual paint theme. Working only on the paint layer, I painted over the white with stripes etc. Notice, however, the seams, decals, and shading are still on top of the paint. The hard part is actually making the paint kit file with all of the nesecary layers. Once that's done, you can spit out paint schemes in a snap. This particualar paint kit took me several hours to splice together. The striped paint scheme layer only took me 5 minutes. Post Edited ( 05-08-05 05:05 )

OK but I don't have Photo Shop, or Paint Shop Pro. Any ideas on where I can get something to make repaints.

You can get demo and trial versions of paint shop pro, I'm pretty certain, off of their website. I can't remember the URL. Just type in "Paintshop
Pro" into Google, and I'm sure it will bring up the website.

Any certain places to look for Layered paint kits?

Um the only problem with the demos is they are only for a limited time, and repeatedly downloading them is frustrating and time
consuming.

Good aint cheep, and cheep aint good. But if you are a student Adobe has great prices on their products. I think Adobe CS( Photoshop, Illustrator,
Acrobat.... and more) is only like 250USD

The demo version of PSP gives you a month, but you can't reinstall it as the registry remembers. The full programme hovers around the
£60 level and I bought it for my MSTS work and is worth every penny. Simple fact of life - PC gaming costs particularly if you want to get into the development side. And with no disrespect Zatnikitelman, coming on a forum hosting official discussion about a commercial add on, making constant references to wanting something for free or not being able to afford software will start to wear a bit thin.

I am only stating the facts, not trying to gain sympathy if that's what you mean. But I do thik I kinda got spoiled by Halo trial whose
modding program is free and unlimited, limited only by your XML skills. I would gratefully buy this stuff if only my arents would let me. I AM FIFTEEN FOR GOODNESS SAKES! I CAN MAKE MY OWN FINANCIAL DECISIONS! But as I stated, I do not want sympathy, it disgusts me as a matter of fact, I am just trying to find out how I can get involved for little or no cost, before dishing out the cost when my parents turn over my financial responsibilities to me.
