IMHO, this is the most stupidest move that windows has ever made.. they ahve said all along that DX10 will be, like all the other DX
versions, backwards compatible, with dx9 cards. Now dont get me wrong, im not disputing that it wont be backwards compatible, just they fact that people will be goin out to buy the new DX10 cards when they finally come out, chuck im their xp system and then have em sitting there doing nothing until they can afford to get vista, OR they can go buy vista and keep their DX9 card in the system and not get all teh eye candy.. if so what was the use of buying vista.. thats basically whats it for.. eye candy

A landing that you walk away from in one piece is a good landing.

It uses a completely different instruction set that is directly connected to hardware. Now ATI has said (dunno if Nvidia has announced this too yet) that their next gen R600 cards will be the "fastest DX9 cards ever" but will also be future compatable with DX10 because of the hardware they're using. Look for those cards in Q4. Imo DX10 is a big step forward technologically from DX9. There's lots of new stuff and I'm not surprised that MS is not supporting it with (what will be) an older generation opperating system when DX10 comes out. I'm not too keen on the rumored prices for Vista however. I'm ok with paying $130 for an OS like Apple charges. But ~$500 is a bit steep for me (the college student).

hmmm i dont like the prices either.. my mum said that we will be gettin a new compuer in the next week or so but im a bit reluctant to go
all out on a new system, just to ahve to upgrade in a fwe months.. i guess i better get a job aye :P. but yeh back to prices.. they (microsoft) wonder why so many people are pirating thier products *sigh*

That is why my comp is not getting updated until Vista comes out, then I'll have saved up enough to go the whole hog and a comp that
should even run FSX maxed out. Flying for Landmark Airlines. |
