Autopilot problem

Hii guys

Everytime I switch off my autopilot my plane lurches either up or down, enough of a lurch to encurr an excessive G penalty. Anyone know
how I can avoid this lurch when i switch off the autopilot. Im flyin barons and cessnas and get the problem to a lesser extent on boeing
jets.

Don't touch your joystick for some seconds, and correct trim?

What type of plane are you flying? If it's an Airbus, that's your problem

Hello GA,

I used to have a huge issue with this problem in the past. To the point where I almost won't use the auto pilot. This is what I do now to
avoid this problem and it seems to work for me:

Trim the plane for level flight first. Once it is flying nice and straight and level, set the auto pilot. The joystick (if you are using one) should
be rather centered, if you trimmed properly. Then as Pagir states - do not touch the joystick. If you do FS9 will trim the plane in an extreme
way and cause trouble when you turn the auto pilot off.

When you want to manually fly the plane again, make sure the joystick is still centered, it should be if you trimmed and were flying level
before setting the auto pilot, and you didn't move the joystick. Now, Turn off auto pilot, and your plane should not jerk up or down.

I usually fly the b200, default 172, mooney, and the ac500 and I don't have this issue anymore. I just completed a long (for me) flight with
the B200 in heavy, stormy weather, and didn't have any issues when turning off the autopilot.

I knew it Swafo, I knew you would not be able to control yourself and had to come up with this answer haha. Of course i don't want to mess up your
little dream-world
but the airbus just happens to be one of the very few planes which doesn't have this problem at all
Swafo, maybe you're a bit frustrated you never had a chance to fly a real plane?

This last part bugs me. What do you mean? The F/A-18 or 737 aren't real planes


I was only joking about the Airbus issue! They're known for their very reliable autopilots!

Same here Swafo, just joking I read some other posts of you and how you love your boeings and hmmm, 'not really like' the airbus
series. But again, nothing serious

Alright... got me nervous there for a minute. I thought we had someone in the forum that actually thought an Airbus was a real plane!

Keep in mind that Boeing's have been keeping me safe in the sky for over 15 years now (Well McDonnell Douglas there for a few of them,
but who owns that company know?)

Ok, thats great, talk about dodgy autopilots and all the real pilots start bitchin about each others planes, cmon guys uall all need to be a
bit more mature than that, tell me do airbus and boeing pilots gesticulate as they fly past each other, try to bump into each other and not
let the other one overtake. Seriously though I dont use a joystick but the keyboard, are there any key commands that center the controls
for pitch?

I have this problem too, and it happens regardless of wether I'm touching the joystick in some planes. But then, I use a Force feedback joystick, so
it moves on it's own

It may help to note where the trim wheel is before releasing the autopilot, and be prepared to move the stick in the oppisite direction if the
autopilot is using "extreme" trim. (Ie: autopilot has trim set to the maximum nose up setting, release and start pushing the nose down gently so the
plane doesn't try to imitate the space shuttle).

Also, I just started using FSUIPC, and it seems to have some options to help with this, one I saw (but haven't had the chance to try, I've been
hand-flying my last few flights) that centers the elevator after a change to the ALT setting on the autopilot.

Of course, both airbus and boeing are very well built planes and very safe too. Let's hope all planes keep their passengers and crew always safe.

How did you know!? Come on , nobody is very serious here! (Well, Swafo is a bit )
And sorry, i never use the keyboard so no idea.... (In an airbus you don't have to adjust the pitch )
