Finally Perfect

Hi all, just excited after about 10 attempts i have finally made a perfect landing, no crashes no failed landing gear, and no customer
complaints. So i am extremely happy and just decided to share my enthusiasm. I am now glad to be apart of this other world
(flightsimmers). now i just got to buy the full copy of fsp which will happen soon. and then i may be brave enough to add some difficulty
and challenges. Happy Flying.

It took me about 6 flights, -3000 points, and about $20,000,000 in gear damages before I got my landings right.

Now my average vertical speed on landing is about -140ft/min. Sometimes as low as -70!

What does "kiss" mean? I kissed the ground?

kiss means that it was a very smooth landing

the only plane i've had trouble landing is the 747

The fast you come in the better. I keep my approach speed close to 150 with gear and flaps down. It makes it very easy for me to
maintan a slow decent with the nose down.

I can do a kiss landing 80% of the time now almost even in the 707, although I had one crap landing in a 737 where I stalled above the runway and
smashed onto it at 500ft/min OUCH!!! I was fatigued after already doing a 9 hour flight then another 3 hour one then that one...

But I've had lots of practice on the 707, coming up to 100 hours on that thing alone (in less than a month). Mind you I was always a quite experienced
"FS pilot" so I never had bad landings when starting in FsP..though that stall cost me 450 penalty points.

Where did you find a good 707 model to fly? I'd love to buy one for my airline for more passengers.

i fly with the B 7E7 Dreamliner i love it though i replaced the panel (which is the default 777 panel) with the 737-400 panel

UGH! I can fit way more passengers on my 757 than I can on that 707! What a disappointment. :-(

Interestingly enough did you know that the 757 was a Boeing 727 replacement and the 767 a Boeing 707 replacement?

i can usually pull off good landings all the time now. I do my approaches nice and slow (120-125kts in most mid sized airliners) then slow the plane
down to 115kts on short final. This helps me to get the plane in a nose up attitude. Then I listen to the gound readouts
50...40.....30.........20...................10. Kiss landings are becoming more common in my flights.

The only problems I'm still having are night landings, where I lose all sence of depth. it's more dificult to judge how high off the ground you
really are, or how far from the runway you are on approach.

I generally customize the cockpits of the planes I use. One gauge I'm never without is a radar altimeter. Really helps getting smoother landings.

I am crap at night landings as well...nearly bust up a 737 landing at night....although it was right after doing a 8 hour flight then another 3 hour
flight beforehand though with no rest. I try and avoid flying or landing at night. So if I do an eight hour flight in an easterly direction I will
start at night to ensure that by the time I land it is about mid-day.

For landing I use my autopilot to line up on the vectors to final. Once I get close, I drop to 3000ft, and disengage the autopilot, and fly it in
manually, every time. I don't trust the AP to land the plane or even get it close.

Above 10000ft, autopilot on. Below 3000, I take over again. Works like a charm.
