Pilot Career - Beta available

I just uploaded the zip file for Pilot Career to the downloads section - "other" category. After it's posted, we can use
this area to work out
any bugs.

One thing I was already considering would be the ability for Pilot Career (or FSP, if it's later integrated into a future
release) to read your AI traffic files and generate flights based on those. The only problem is, if you're assigned a
specific flight at a specific time, you will be mirroring a flight in your AI. That's why for now anyway, I left times out of
the equation. You just take the route and plug it in - I usually use the current date and real world weather and
whatever time I happen to get on there.

Okay, I already did a stupid - I think.

I may have placed Tuscon, AZ in there as TUC instead of TUS. If so, just run a "replace" command on the plans.txt file while in wordpad.

First update to enable the Airline Viewer has been uploaded.

I'll wait and enable all the other embedded functions in a single update. This one is kind of important so I wanted to get it done, since I
had the time last night.

I don't see a way to tell the program my rank, hours, etc... or select the aircraft I am
experienced on. I don't want to start from C0 again, can't I tell the program that I am C23, have 1370 hours etc... and import them?

Hi!
You need to edit it from Pilot Career folder. You must have created a new pilot first before editing. Look in the folder "Program Files/Pilot
Career/Pilots"...or the whatever "your folder" is.....and open "your name" file in "notepad". When opened you will see your name and the
number behind your name..change it to the the number you have on your rank ( dont cheat now ) . Havent found out how to change the
hours yet so you have to study it for yourself. Hope you understand what I was babbling about.

Typically, the idea is to start at 0 and work up but, for those who want to pick up where they are now, here's the format for the pilot's file:

Each line has 15 spots. Not all spots are assigned as yet - to allow for expansion. Here's the format:

Line 1
Pilot Name,Rank,Cash,Total Hours Flying(all aircraft),Salary Multiplier (1,2,5,10),Hours adjustment (1-10, 10 being 100%),Current
Airline,Current Livery,Current Salary,Airline Flights made,Airline Hours flown,blank,blank,log value (determines if you have been assigned
a flight),

Line 2
SEP hours,MEP Hours,SET Hours,MET Hours,MEJ Hours, - the rest is blank

Line 3 - nothing

Line 4
Current Base,Destination (if flight assigned),Current Aircraft,Current Aircraft Class,Daily Pay/Cost,Current Airline,Current
Livery,blank,blank,Rank Required,Hours Required (for internal), - rest blank

Lines 5 - 100: 15 per line
Enter codes for aircraft you are certified on. To verify, look under work history to see that they are listed there.

Lines 101 - 500 Work Histories are stored here - also viewable on Work History page (duh!)



I suppose I could make a little routine to edit this but, I want to get the actual thing done first.

I already have a list of things to finish on this so any editor will be after that. Still to do:

Search parameters for airline Viewer, Job Openings and Internal Jobs
Images behind all screens
Sounds
Demotion for rank which drops below airline requirement

Plus, more airlines - MANY more airlines. :D

Got a question with regard to FSP airlines here.

I was in FSP and making a bunch of airline profiles to match those listed in Pilot but, is there an easy way to copy those profiles to put in
a download package? I was going to bundle them with logos and flight plans - the idea being, if someone wants to "do" an airline, they
just make up the plans, set the airline profile and logo for FSP - then just upload it (or send it to me to include in an update).

I only know of the folder to hold the logos. Is there a place where the airline names and descriptions are kept or is that in the database
somewhere?

There seems to be a bug in the section of the pilot name file when I put in my hours. I have put in hours of 21 hours MET and 1354 for the MEJ on line
2 but it doesn't show this when I load the program.

Okay, it WILL read them correctly if you enter the time in MINUTES! I forgot that part. The airline plans and aircraft files are in hours but
the pilot stuff is in minutes. It takes your total minutes and divides by 60 to get hours, so that when you plug times into the flight log, it
accounts for everything.
