on it and I started for the first time to program 3d (using amos.. someone recall?)...
I sold it with all my floppy and my prog for $100...

Ooh yes: it was because of Shanghai for the Amiga (belonging to a friend of mine) that I actually went through the bother of programming a mouse
interface AND GUI in Turbo Pascal so that I could have the same thing on my PC..

This also was the first computer that we got. I was about 12 at the time, so it wasnt much for me programming. My brother had a book
on Machine language that I tried to read (I think I wanted to impress him) but got about 2 pages into it and walked away.

Years later I bought a really old Amiga, might have been a 500 (cant say). I did some graphics on it, then one day it died.

A while ago I took a class on C, it was interesting but I just could not get the hang of it. I would like to learn programming, I just dont think
I have the patience. I do not think I can see the bigger picture. I want more immedate resultes, not after 54,000 lines of code.

You want to learn to program with immediate results, start with a scripting language like PHP or Python. Then work your way up to object oriented
programming (first with the scripting language if possible, then with something bigger like Java e.g., great for learning OO and about integrated
development environments).

Ahh Amiga.. There we differ. I was an ST man, I still collect them as well. I used to use STOS on the ST which AMOS is the Amiga (much
improved) version.

If the Vic you had was unexpanded you only had 5k of RAM. Only 3.5k was usable by programs!

I started programming on a MSX and Commodore. In just a few buttons you would get the unbeatable message "Out of memory" lol... Now Im programming in
Powerbuilder and Java as a profession... But I think it was more fun in the old days, we felt like explorers.

I remember programming in AMOS on the A1500; it was pretty bad. I always preferred 68x assembler, never bothered learning x86.
Nowadays it has to be said largely because i look after UNIX systems, it's mostly C C++. Oh and fortran at Uni...
