Had to turn off overspeed penalty

Flying a EMB 170 by dream wings. I'm starting to enjoy the plane, but I have experienced two back to back trips where I was given a penalty for
overspeed. I'll confess, the first one was my fault - this is a slippery aircraft. I found myself having to either deploy spoilers and/or reduce my
descent from the standard 1800ft / min. However, I just made the return trip. The high speed cruise is .80 Mach with .82 max. I flew at .75. When
it was time to descend, I reduced to .65 and then started the descent. After descending below fl180, I reduced my speed to below 250 knots. Passing
through 12,000 I reduced to 200 knots. However, I stilled received a 600 pt penalty.

Is there a specific setting I can change in the aircraft.cfg that FSPassengers might be looking at?

hey mate can you tell me where I can disable this penalty?

I think I have a bug in my aircraft/fsp because my max allowable speed is usually 450kts on this aircraft but my latest flight from CYYR to KBOS said
I was overspeeding while about 330kts on climb.

my points are ridiculously low due to these types of errors and also fsp thinking ive made a dangerous take off/landing when ive merely landed on a
gravel runway.

You DON'T climb at 450 KIAS. You are confusing airspeed with groundspeed. No airliner should go faster than 320kts IAS in the climb really, maybe 330KIAS maximum. The groundspeed should be around 450kts in the cruise, and the IAS will be around 270-290kts.

The air gets less dense the higher you go, so for only 290KIAS you will have a groundspeed of 450kts at 30,000ft.

I have set my settings to indicate TRUE airspeed.

and 450kts is my cruise speed.

all speeds in my post refer to TAS. hence 330 being quite a reasonable climb speed.

If your overspeed warning is sounding, then your airspeed, whatever it is, or your mach speed IS OBVIOUSLY WRONG. PERIOD. You didn't state that you had your speed set to true airspeed, so don't be damn rude.

b) - i actually have my cockpit sounds turned off
c) - my point is.. with TAS set period... how come it doesnt say its overspeeding when cruising at 450kts... but it did when I was climbing at 330kts.
thats why i mentioned the bug.

Well this is Maurino Brown from Dreamwings. I fly the 170 all the time with FSP and dont have any overspeeding problem. It sounds like
you may be pushing the lil plane a bit though. I have a FDE that I messed with a bit and I feel it is better than the one that was released. If
youd like it let me know.

Using true airspeed is moronic because it tells you nothing about the performance of the aircraft. Stall speeds, overspeeds, etc are all
based on INDICATED AIRSPEED, the physical properties of the air over the wings. Real pilots don't use true airspeed as their
predominant speed indication.

Using indicated airspeed is much simpler than TAS - overspeed can be two things.

On an ERJ-170

Vmo = 330KIAS
Mmo = M0.82

It's very simple. True airspeed doesn't come into it.

I ended up turning the speed penalty off in the config/more_config.ini file. I use the Abacus EMB-190 and although I definitely didn't overspeed, I
still got the -600 point penalty.

I takeoff under 250kts below 10,000ft then accelerate to 280KIAS until cruising altitude (FL300 for example). Then I accelerate to Mach 0.80 to 0.85
depending on my fuel / load level and prevailing winds aloft. I never get an overspeed warning in the aircraft nor do I expect to. This aircraft is
capable of Mach 0.85 and I almost never fly quite that fast.

Anyways I wanted to post here to let people know that this particular aircraft (EMB-190 or ERJ195) triggers the overspeed warning in FSPassengers even
if there is no overspeed.

I do not have this issue using my Abacus CRJ900 or Posky CRJ700 and CRJ200. Good luck!

Instead turning off speed penalty do what I always do, keep the cruise_speed but rise the max speed limit by +11%
cruise_speed=477.000
max_indicated_speed=378.00 //340.000000 + 11%
max_mach=0.91 //0.820020 + 11%

This is to catch the sudden wind changes in FS2004 when flying at cruise_speed.
Below 10'000 make sure you are flying less than 250knts IAS.

Well I recently checked my EMB-190's aircraft.cfg file and found the maximum mach listed at 0.84. In the reference file that accompanied my Abacus
EMB-190 the listed maximum mach is 0.85. However, according to Embraer and Wikipedia, the maximum mach is only 0.82 (890 km/h (481 kt, Mach 0.82).

So, it is entirely possible that I was exceeding the maximum mach number IN REAL LIFE, but according to Flight Sim, my mach 0.82 cruise should have
been well below the listed maximum mach of 0.84. So technically, I was possibly overspeeding according to the real life mach maximum, but according
to Flight Sim I should have been fine.

I have since changed my EMB-190_ref.html file to reflect the new maximum mach speed of 0.82 and I will make sure I remain below that speed (0.80 for
cruise).

This appears to be an area where Flight Sim is being overly sensitive and/or reporting data to FSP that triggers the overspeed warning/penalty even
though the aircraft.cfg file should have allowed it.

I am going to re-enable the overspeed penalty, armed with my new data and cruising speed, and see if this problem nets me another -600 points. At
this rate I'll NEVER get promoted!!
