Project Opensky CRJ-200

Okay, I finally reached the pilot rating enabling me to fly jets under 44092 pounds. I go out and look through my library of aircraft and
select two: the Project Opensky CRJ-200 in a Delta livery and a ERJ-135. I go for my maiden flight in the CRJ, and note that when loading
the passengers, I have no space for them.

Max weight for take off is 51520 lbs. Sitting empty is 40000 lbs. Add 50% fuel and that pushed my weight to 51088 lbs, only 162 pounds
shy of max takeoff weight. Add the 38 passengers that are waiting for a lift, and that pushes me up to 57616 lbs, over 6 thousand pounds
over max take off weight.

Needless to say, I take off anyway, get penalized, can't land without going too far, get penalized, in an effort to keep on the runway, I slide
off into the grass, and get lights penalized (landing, and strobes) [landed on a 16kt cross wind at KSTL on 30L]

So, am I missing something or is that plane simply not suitable for FSPassengers? I checked under the Aircraft>Realism>Payload pull
down menus and made sure everything was zeroed out before starting. Too bad too, I really enjoy the plane model.

That has happened to me before with paywere add-on planes, where I am only allowed to have 75% fuel and half pax. But I don't know
the solution. I think you might have to edit the aircraft.cfg file.

there must be somtthing wrong with configuration files... are you used to .cfg files, coz if you do you can edit aicraft.cfg file into the CRJ folder

I know that aircraft coz I used to fly it and I edited and made it as close to the real thing as i could (im talking about POSKY model)

Empty Weight: 30500 lbs
MTOW: 53000 lbs
Total fuel: 2166 (divided in two Main and one Center) 14305 lbs
Passengers: 50 max in one class cofiguration
Crew: 2+1
Thrust: 9220 lbs
Standard cruise: FL370 @ .78 M
High speed cruise: .81 M
Cruise speed: 459 TAS

If you want I can send you the file, you can then put details about your livery. It is set up for FsPax and it has got all necessary features like
contact points for belly landings. You can download CRJ panel from AVSIM, I suggest SkyDeck if you really like CRJs.

POSKY CRJ is a great model and it has got Virtual Cockpit. I enjoy to fly it!

You might wanna make your own payload model.

Yeah, I thought about making my own model, but there is already a CRJ200 payload model available. I ended up doing what burinko
suggested and modified my .cfg file on the CRJ. That seemed to do the trick, able to load all pax that were waiting on my last leg. I also
went back and modified the ERJ .cfg which, I pulled off the official Embraer website for its specs. Thanks for the suggestions all.

Thats ok you are wellcome. I found that editing .cfg file can make your FS a lot better withotu having to buy addons that do that for you or also
expensive aircraft like Feel there for CRJ when you have a beautiful POSKY model for free. Nothing that I dont like Feelthere one, it's great, but
it's also about £20 I believe... I cant spend £20 everytime I want to fly a new plane!

find the max_weight in the cfg flie (it is in lbs) and edit it a few thousand lbs extra, all will be solved

I found this too - the empty weight is set wrong in the aircraft config file. The empty weight for this aircraft should be 30,500, not 44,000 that has
been entered (44,000 is the maximum zero fuel weight, not the empty weight)

Open aircraft.cfg in notepad and scroll down to weights section, and change the empty weight to 30,500

All other weights are correct, so you can leave those, including the maximum take-off weight.

Once you've done this, you'll find you can actually carry passengers on the crj200ER

It's a known issue with some Posky plane. I don't really no why, but they add the passengers weight to "true" empty weight, giving the
Maximum zero fuel weight.

Anyway, You've found the solution!

As much as I have always likes the aircraft Opensky has given us the CRj in my opinion is the worst I have come across. It is not very
stable seems hard to control on take off and pitch on takeoff etc just terrible. I have been flying a SGA DC-9-31 for a while now and have
to say the best aircraft I have ever flown. Very stable easy to control lands almost perfect. I don't get any hard landing penilties with this
aircraft it's a real joy it has allowed me to move quickly through the ranks and gives my company a great reputation.

I had the same problem with the CRJ. Very unstable on landing. I fixed this by reducing my rudder effect through the flight sim itself.
That seems to keep the plane on a straight and true path down the runway upon landing. Now, I have around 2000 points to make up in
my trusted Embraer 120, drat the luck. But, knock on wood, I have not totally crashed yet, with several malfunctions under my belt. One
even prevented me from taking off. I ended up declaring an emergency on the taxiway and after not being able to remedy the problem,
ended the FS flight, only see I did the right thing.!! WOOT!!

Another question for you aircraft.cfg folks out there..where can I modify the amount of thrust of the reverse thrust? I had read somewhere also, that this is not quite adequate for the CRJ, but, can't seem to find the line in the .cfg doc. I will go look in the .air doc, but, any advice would be appreciated.

It's in the air file and you can edit it with a prog like AirEd. But be careful editing this file, make sure you have a backup
