Promotion points

I don't think anybody has asked this because the answer seems obvious....but maybe I'm just tired.

Are the promotion points based on total points (after penalty points) or just on pilot points you've earned? It seems to me that it should
be based on total points (which makes it tough when I keep screwing up the fuel load!), but it told me I needed 300 points to get
promoted to C2, however it promoted me after I passed the time requirement but my points were still at 230.

Any idea on this?

I think it's your pilot points.

Hmmm, that could be a bug. Usually you might be promoted before you get the hours required if you have a really good flying record.
That's called an exceptional promotion.

For the record, when FsPassengers looks for promotion, it looks at the total of points you have : Bonus-Penalties=Total.

I have a theory on why this may have happened...I can't remember but maybe one of two things happened...#1, I had more than 300
points before the flight started and I got negative points for the flight, but for some reason FSP gave me the promotion while I was still in
flight...or #2, I got more than 300 points after the flight, but my deductions on the flight put it back under 300 (I don't know if this makes
sense..say I had 250 points before the flight...I got 200 points for the flight at landing and got the promotion...but it still had not deducted
the 270 negative points, which left my total at 230 at the end). Either way, I'm coming up on my next promotion and I'm watching it closely,
I'll keep you advised because I'm only 1 hour under the time and about 500 points under the needed points (ouch).

I'm going for promotion to C1 (5hrs + 300 points) and while I have 6 hours under my belt, which is more than needed, I only have 5 pilot
points, (5 very good/perfect flights and 1 monstorously bad flight) and thus I have not been promoted yet.

Oh yeah i didn't quite understand the system.

I got like 260points and -500+ lol ...

Bad flights make promotions even harder to get in the future. And that record follows you. Those that don't have bad flights in their records
will be promoted faster than those that do.

Well, it didn't take Scooby and the gang to solve this mystery for me. I now have 12.5 hours and only 530 points...result: no promotion to
c3. Oh well, a couple good flights and I'll be there. I'm past halfway on hours to a dual engine...woohoo!
