How to Survive Long Hauls?

Hello,
I would like to know how can I survive LONG hauls, like LAX to JFK? I would like to start flying cross country. How do you survive? Do you just stand
in front of the computer all day? How do you deal with ATC if you are not in front of the computer. At what time do you start your flights?
Please help, I want to get more hours.

Don't speak to ATC. If you can't commit the time to do transatlantic, just break your journey up into different flights i.e Heathrow to Dubai, you
would maybe stop in Frankfurt, then stop somewhere else e.t.c Stop every 2 or 3 hours, and just set another destination.

Like how Craig said, break it up into sections of more than 1 or 2 airports. If your talking about the Flight simulator ATC then it is a bit more
difficult than if flying on say VATSIM or IVAO, However if you fly on one of these networks you'll find it easier i guess because ATC arn't always on
for a given FIR sector i.e. London TMA.

If you have radar contact, you could actually assign the co-pilot to fly the plane and take care of communications. Juts make sure you get
back to your computer before you start your descent as the co-pilot doesn't control your speed. By doing this you are risking crashing your
jet if you ever had a aircraft failure caused by FsPif you have your failures on. But I am thinking you have other things to do and are not able
to make a long flight but would like to. Radar Contact is the way to go in this case if you don't want to make shorter flights. Good Luck.

I think (but I'm not sure) Radar Contact has a nice feature of pausing your flight some minutes/miles before the top of descent - so you're OK to
depart, go to your bed and -if nothing's wrong with your aircraft- you un-pause the flight in the morning and land

Well, I don't use RC but I read it somewhere else on this forum. I can actually achieve the same with my Wilco's Airbus fleet - there's an option to
pause the flight 20nm before the ToD...

i use standard fsx atc and, when at cruise altitude, i wait until the "operator" ask me to change frequency, then i aknowledge him.
After doing that i simply don't contact the next atc and i go to bed or out or anything.
when i return back to the pc (i usually use level-d that has a "pause at TOD" feature), all i have to do is get back in command and contact
the new atc freq again that is automatically switched.

The pc is dumb and doesn't know that i went to do my business and the flight can continue normally; just answer without following the
vectors that the atc will give you, after a while (some 30 seconds) everything will go normal

i just have a problem with passengers. They seem bulimic.
i serve 'em hot meals and, during night, every 4 hours or worse, 2 hours they are hungry and i run out of meals!
but this is another issue

Confirmed.

It's a distance you can set in the general options menu. The same screen where you input your flight number, pax, etc... It's down in the
bottom right corner. Just type in the distance from destination you want to pause the flight. Default is 100 nm.

You can also tell the copilot to fly the plane if equipped with a default AP. She (otto has the cute voice on mine ) will follow all ATC
commands from RC. It's a seperate command from telling <her> to handle comms.

I don't have anything else installed on my Flightsim other than FSP and some addon planes.

I simply takeoff without the atc and keep flying. when I'm about 200-500 nm from the destination I contact atc and open the IFR flight plan.
The only problem is that if there's a failure I may not see it. (that's why I keep my planes in perfect condition).
