Hi,
Just signed up, been watching the forum for a few months now waiting eagerly for FsPX like everyone else and I just wanna point out that you all seem to be a little bit selfish towards each other. You are all nitpicking because FsPX isn't complete yet. Why can't you all just look at the last page see that no release is there and do something else other than fight with each other? The only person that can really stop all the bickering is Dan (unfortunately for you mate). If you regurarly post what your doing on the forum then people can see that things are happening, they'll know that your not possibly just sitting around in your jammies playing your XBOX. If you keep updating the forum with progress then no one will be arguing about when it's getting released. Instead people will be discussing the updates that your posting. Thats my welcome note. I'll go back to watching the forum. ![]()

I don't see any reason to fight here, peoples are right to ask questions if they are respectefull, if you see anything wrong just pm to a
moderator wich will take actions. So please stop on this subject now. Thanks Dan

I would just like to point out that if Dan posts progress to much how is he supposed to do it?
with a percentage done ---- This would most likely end in a MS style progress bar that sits @ 99/100% for the same amount of time as it took to get there in the first place. Discuss ideas and mention what has been done or is being worked on ---- Dan already does this Publish early unstable releases that crash PC's cause FS problems (like it doesn't have enough already ![]() I have written many programs over my time and try to avoid as much as i can from interfacing them with MS products because the next version will work in a totally different way and screw all the code up requiring a total rewrite. Just look at windows i thought i want to use my PC to the fully i'll "upgrade" to XP x64 rather than vista to keep some of my slightly older hardware in play a little longer ....................... anyone with drivers for a Tevion TV card on XP x64 please let me know!!! software is like string you don't know how long it will take till you get to the other end. Sometimes a major bug is caused by one comma in the wrong place and you just don't spot it till you force-ably put it down forget it a day or so and come back. I consider myself an accomplished programmer who can work in several languages (admittedly not games programming) would i even attempt to do what Dan is NO!!! so I wait. We have had an update its in BETA if any bugs turn up they may take minutes, hours, or days to fix. Love the work Dan don't rush i'd rather have it when its ready than have it early with loads of updates to follow! ![]()

Everyone -
I currently do software developent, and I can tell you that it almost always it takes longer than expected to put together and complete any kind of complex software package (coding/testing/QA/unexpected hangups, etc.). I personally would like to have a quality product that was done right, is (reasonably) crash-proof, and is a good value for my money than to have something that was rushed, crashes frequently, has memory leaks, etc., all because the developer(s) didn't take the time to put the thing together correctly - and if you think this is a less-than gentle elbow-jab at a certain monsterous software company, well... Anyhow, If all Dan does is sit there and reply to blogs asking when FSX was going to be completed, he'd most likely never get it done. Please be patient, and remember this is no small task that Dan is trying to accomplish. Thank you!

Quote:m0thm wrote: I think your idea of progress has been slightly misinterpreted. Progress doesn't need to be in the form of an "MS Style Progress Bar". As a programmer i'm sure you've uploaded progress before...? If i remember correctly the most progress i've saw Dan put on this forum was the first page. Progress doesn't need to be full of images or a bar it can be a simple: Whats been implemented: .... ..... ..... Lets not forget that Dan also has a life outside FSX and i don't believe he's working on it 24/7. All i am getting from most of the posts on here are "how far are you with it?" "is it done yet". If a simple post like above was done when he's taken a break from doing it then there wouldn't be so many posts regarding the progress. ![]()

Hi all. I havent been on the forums for quite a while now and I was excited to see that our wait is nearly over. Great work Dan, you kept on
going through months of making this great addon. ![]() Quote:all you have to do is wait, until the website is updated and at the top of the page it That is exacly what I cant wait for! I havent flown using FsPassengers in about 2 years so my flying skills have dropped - rough landings, nose dives (lol) etc. therefore now im practicing again ready for FsPX!

Like i said im not a games programmer i tend to code things up either for very dynamic web apps and as a hobby im involved with radio and electronics
so lots of pic and stamp controller type work.all i was trying to say and perhaps not quite as well as the post that followed was that rushing software out to reach an exact deadline can cause many more problems than it solves. ![]()

I totally agree with you rushing software is the worst thing anyone can do, probably the biggest problem is that some people don't know
the full extent of what actually gets put into making programs let alone the time and patience. I personally feel a quick note to say whats been done and what i'm working on is a nice thing to pop on especially so the people that are buying the program can see all the stuff (whether they understand it or not) that is being put into the program for their enjoyment. Ok Dan. Heres a really good question. So all of the downloads that are avilable for fs passengers will they work with fsx passengers?

Hey all. Have seen that fspx has gone into beta testing and will be going to open beta testing. I would like to ask if anyone can give us an
update regarding on how the beta testing is going can't wait to test it myself and see how it works on my computer. |
