#17 Fuel Planning to escape the 45-minute penalty:

FsPassengers requires that you have enough fuel on board when the flight is completed for at least 45
minutes of flight. This is to
simulate the requirement of a 45-miunute reserve for both VFR and IFR flights. The problem is that FsP cannot
distinguish between a legitimate use of
the 45 minute reserve and simple poor planning on your part. Therefore, the 45 min reserve must be in your tanks
when you end the flight. If it's not
there, you will be penalized.

To ensure that you have sufficient fuel, I recommend that you plan as follows as a MINIMUM, (if you fly on-
line, you might need more!)


Fuel needed for trip + 45 min (fuel to alternate and contingency) + 45 Min reserve


This should cover you 99.99% of the time when flying off-line and probably over 95% of the time when flying on-
line.

#18 Which files should I copy to keep my progress in FSP after a reinstallation?


All the data you'll find in the "database" folder of the FsPassengers folder. It's the one to save/copy back if you want
to continue your progression.

Be aware to NOT mix old files and new file into it, when you replace an old saved "database" folder be sure to
delete first all the files in it previously.

#19 This one is more a Fs2004 trick

Traffic Problems

If you are in a C172 (or another general aviation aircraft) and you are overtaken by a 747 (or other heavy aircraft)
when on final, simply go to your
Fs2004 traffic settings and uncheck the airline traffic box.

Consequently, if you are in a airliner and you have to follow a C172 on final, simply follow the same procedure and
disable the general aviation traffic.


This will solve your problem

PS: do the same in Ultimate Traffic if you are using it.

#21 Landed at the right airport and got penalized for landing at the wrong airport

This is unfortunately an problem with the Fs2004 GPS. Since FsP gets your position directly from the GPS, if the
GPS shows that you are not at the
actual airport (because another airport is closer to you then the one you really are at!?!?), you will be penalized.

The only workaround to this one is to check the location on the GPS before you end your flight. If you are closer to
another airport then your
destination, try taxiing to another gate!

Actually i have just started using FSpassengers... Quite real actually just like what i do in real life. Just to introduce myself, I am a captain
with Singapore Airlines and i fly the 747-400. FSpassengers is a good simulation.... Got lots to learn from u guys since i have just started!

#22 Flap setting on take-off and landing

#24 PROCEDURES FOR REAL WORLD LIGHT USE, AND AVOIDING THE LIGHT PENALTIES:

This is a copy of one of my posts regarding real world external light usage on the 737. Following the below
guidelines should keep you
free from any penalties:

I broke down and read all the messages. Let me clarify the real world use of ALL external aircraft lights (at least on
the 737). From left to
right
(based on appearance on the overhead panel):

Landing Lights: Well, you've got two types of landing lights to worry about in real life. In the sim, luckily there's only
one. I'll cover the real
world use though. The two types of landing lights are 1)Fixed, Inboard Landing lights, and 2)Retractable, Outboard
landing lights.
Normally, the fixed LL are always used during takeoff and landing, and during climb and descent below FL180 (at
least with SWA). The
Retractable LL are used at the pilots discretion, and most pilots use them only at night. However, I'll normally flip
all 4 landing lights on at
once (using the large gang bar above the LL switches)... it's just easier for me. This is also how they'd be used in
the sim, as I don't think
you have individual LL control. Landing lights are always switched off when exiting the runway after landing.

Runway Turnoff Lights: The use of these is again at the pilots discretion, however I'll use them the same way as
landing lights (with
regards to when they're turned on and off), but only at night... too much illumination for the day.

Taxi Light: Normally, this is first switched on after the pusback truck is disconnected, and the after start checklist is
complete. This is
also the time when we'll switch ignition systems (if required), and request taxi clearance, however that's a topic for
a different day. The
use of taxi lights is at the pilots discretion as well, however their use is highly encouraged ANY TIME WHILE
MOVING ABOUT THE
TAXIWAY. I'll keep them on until the after takeoff checklist is complete, and turn them on again in the descent when
I'm passing FL180.
You'll have some pilots that will flip them on and off when entering and exiting the runway (at the appropriate
phases of flight). For me, it's
easier to turn on all the required lights for landing and taxiing to the gate when I'm passing FL180, and easier to
turn off the taxi light after
takeoff. Normally, after landing we'll keep the taxi light on until we're in the gate safety zone.

Logo Lights: Ahh, my favorite, easy to use set of lights. These are switched on for all operations below FL180
during night-time hours.
Isn't that one easy?

Navigation (or Position) Lights: These are even easier to use than the logo lights if you can believe it! These are
ALWAYS on! NEVER
OFF (except when completing a terminating flight)!

Strobe Lights: These are turned on when cleared for takeoff, and off when exiting the runway after landing. Another
very easy to use set
of lights.

Anti-Collision (beacons) Lights: These lights are on ANYTIME at least one engine is running. They'll be flipped on
during the before start
checklist prior to pushback just so the ground crew knows we are about to start the engine(s). We'll flip them off
when both fuel cutoff
switches have been placed in the CUTOFF position.

Wing Lights: These are the rarest lights to be used, and their only use is checking the leading edge slat/flap
configuration at night, or
checking for wing icing at night or in low visibilty conditions. Quite simple to use, and don't really have a use in the
sim.


Also, alot of the earlier 737's have a wheel well inspection light switch that is on the overhead panel. The newer
models have this switch
in the wheel well, as there really isn't a time when the captain needs to switch it on for the ground crew (they're
quite capable).

use of the internal lighting. lol.

#25 NON-PRESSURIZED AIRCRAFT:

If you're having problems with an aircraft that should be pressurized not being pressurized (giving you indications
that PAX are getting
sick, etc. Above 12,000FT), go to the FSPassengers Payload Editor program. From here, load the aircraft
configuration file in question,
and verify that the "This aircraft isn't pressurized" check-box is NOT checked. Save and exit. This will fix your
problem.

#27 Holding SHIFT then pressing Z Three times will show your your current location by cordinets, your speed,
frame rate, wind direction and speed, and
altitude.

If you have "instant record" mode and can't sustain your pilot's death or think
he died in a unfair accident (a problem with a scenario for example)

#29 SAVING FSP

After one to many posts entittled "How do I save FSP Flights" and the like, here is the answer. As of now, due to coding, you
cannot save your progress or history of flight onto Flight Simulator. Although it may be in a future update, for now FSP is not saveable.
If you plan to fly a 5 hour flight, make sure you have time, because you can't save!

In the future prior to reading this, refrain from adding posts about this topic to the forum. If you have anymore questions,
